    Power supply not working?

Good afternoon. I have an APEVIA WIN-500xspx power supply that I bought from Fry's about 4 monthes ago. I bought this to replace the old one in my HP computer because I bought a new MB that required a 500w PSU. It worked before but had issues getting the motherboard properly installed. I left it with a friend of mine and he recently came to me and said that it had stopped working. It looks brand new, has no "burned" smells coming from it. I tried plugging it into the wall without the computer and nothing happened (yes I toggled the power switch on the PSU) and he said that in the computer, it was not turning on.

Anything I am missing or do I just need to get a new PSU?

Extremely cheap POS psu. Not safe to use. Most likely just died. Replace with brand name quality unit like corsair, antec, etc...

Never heard of a motherboard requiring a certain wattage. Graphics card...yes...but a motherboard requiring 500W? Is it a dual Xeon motherboard or something? Thats quite generous.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
            by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...

Sony PS4 slim CUH-2216A power supply ADP-160FR not working after short in PFC
            by modtool
            Dear forum members,
I'm working on this power supply for ps4 slim, that behaves in a similar manner as other cases but I can't find a way to solve the problem.
When it came to me, externally the ps4 had standby voltage, clicking the disc eject button made the triple beep (without disc inside) and cliking on the power button made the blue power light turn on and then all turned off within 1 second.
When I opened it up, I found these components shorted:
            Q6 24N60M2
IC41 1612A (not really shorted but had a hole on it and all pins measured open circuit but the 9th...
