    LiteOn PA-6601-1A blows F1, etc.

The original thread I posted has mixed two problems associated with this Mac power supply. I would like this one to address the problem where the fuse (F1) blows along with R302, Q301, C301 and C302 and apparently anything else that gets in its way.
The other thread should be devoted to TOP249YN failures and repairs.
Hope this will help clear both problems with these supplies. As best I can tell, no one has been successful in repairing either, yet.
Thanks to all so far and I hope this will make it easier.

Re: LiteOn PA-6601-1A blows F1, etc.

Here's the latest I have on this repair. I've taken three of these which had some obvious damage... F1 open, R302 burnt, C301 and C302 split open and Q301 shorted... and replaced those components. In all three, that restored +5vsb and 25vsb but none of the other voltages.
Now looking for the source of missing 12v, etc. The supply uses a LM2596T @U802 in the area but there's also a transformer which looks like it supplies what's marked as 3.3v OC, 5v OC and 12v OC.
Problem I have here is on the supplies where vsb has been restored, I don't see anything with the meter on the secondary side of the transformer.
Seems odd all three would have the same problem. I now suspect the original cause of failure here was overheating since the 12v drives the fans on this unit.
Would welcome any ideas on how to proceed with troubleshooting this supply from this point.

I don't understand the sudden split in the topic after all this time. Just serves to confuse the masses...

The TOP problem is the rarer issue.

The TOP problem was the original I encountered. It quickly became about the "R302 failure" and more people responded to that. Since I couldn't change the thread's name, I decided to try this. Of course, you're right.
I'd just like to resolve this problem. Do you have this board?
Sorry if I confused things... it's what I do best!

Dell XPS One 2720 AIO Liteon PS-3261-9DA not starting up immediately
          by cheeky2
I suspect the issue is with the power supply Liteon PS-3261-9DA as apparently they are notorious for issues with them. Has anyone else had similar issues where the PC tries to boot up a few times before finally booting up. Now I have opened up the PSU which shows no signs of any capacitors failing. I did remove one capacitor that looked to have an issue however with my peak meter it showed it was within the limits with good very low esr values which was somewhat disappointing!
I am going to put a Meter leads across the outputs to see how stable they are when it occurs to see what they are...

Harman Kardon sub TS11 (ds15 amplifer) blows fuse and mosfets
          by BlackScreen_22
Hi, I'll start by saying that I'm not an expert and I've reached a point where I don't know what to try/do anymore...
Starting from the beginning: I opened this subwoofer for the first time with a very strong smell of burnt electrical components, I realize that on the amplifier board there is a hole between V+ OUT and GND about the size of a finger, the damaged components were the shorted mosfets, two damaged zener diodes and two capacitors. I bought everything, I fixed the hole by cutting the pcb and putting a piece of a perforated board.
I had no problems connecting mosfets and capacitors,...

          opto something Liteon 816A4
          by jm1234
          Hi,
I'm troubleshooting a power supply board and one opto coupler seems shorted. It's a through-hole, marked with 3 lines:
          1223
          816A4
          W
I'm not sure what replacement to buy for it. It resembles LTV-816 (https://www.tme.eu/sk/en/details/ltv...output/liteon/), but I'm not sure it's 100% that. The data sheet shows multiple sub-types like 816M, 816S, but 816A is not there.
I do have other functional pieces on the same board, so I could do some measurements on those, but I'm not sure what to check.
          Any idea appreciated.

Power supply for main amp blows fuses after replacing filter caps.
          by acedogblast
Hello I have a Marantz sr5012 that I have been repairing. After I have replaced the 2 main filter caps the 2 fuses for the power amplifier blows. The original capacitors are ELNA LAO 10,000uF 71V and the replacements are Nichicon LKS 10,000uF 80V.
I assume a short circuit connection has occurred so I set my multimeter to measure ohms across the 2 fuse connections and both read 55 Kilo-ohms so I assume that is ok.

I am certain that I do not have any bridges on my soldering and after probing around I do find a temporary 0 ohm reading when probing across the positive and negative...
