    opto something Liteon 816A4

    Hi,
I'm troubleshooting a power supply board and one opto coupler seems shorted. It's a through-hole, marked with 3 lines:
    1223
    816A4
    W
I'm not sure what replacement to buy for it. It resembles LTV-816 (https://www.tme.eu/sk/en/details/ltv...output/liteon/), but I'm not sure it's 100% that. The data sheet shows multiple sub-types like 816M, 816S, but 816A is not there.
I do have other functional pieces on the same board, so I could do some measurements on those, but I'm not sure what to check.
    Any idea appreciated.

When you desolder optocoupler from board, so it is off circuit, check in diode mode between leg#1 and 2, an later betveen leg#3 and 4 on optocoupler in both direction.
    Whats is readings?

0 resistance between 1 and 2, that's why I wrote it's shorted. My question was more to what could I replace it with.

I dont know for sure. Some standards are 817, so may or may not be critical for choosing 816 instead by design.
Here is compare, a few point is different.

I think you are misinterpreting the datasheet.
          LTV-816 comes in a DIP (page 2)
LTV-816M is a wide lead spacing package
LTV-816S is a surface mounting package

"A2" is the rank (page 3),

Rank mark "A" denotes a CTR (current transfer ratio) of 80 - 160. (page 10)

You're probably right in that, but there is no way to order specific rank as far as I can tell, so that seems puzzling. Anyhow, I ordered that LTV-816 from TME and what arrived is labeled 816B. I put it on the PCB and the issue is gone now. So I consider this a success, knowing well it's too soon to claim any victory here.

The ordering information is towards the end of the datasheet.

Dell XPS One 2720 AIO Liteon PS-3261-9DA not starting up immediately
                by cheeky2
I suspect the issue is with the power supply Liteon PS-3261-9DA as apparently they are notorious for issues with them. Has anyone else had similar issues where the PC tries to boot up a few times before finally booting up. Now I have opened up the PSU which shows no signs of any capacitors failing. I did remove one capacitor that looked to have an issue however with my peak meter it showed it was within the limits with good very low esr values which was somewhat disappointing!
I am going to put a Meter leads across the outputs to see how stable they are when it occurs to see what they are...

                AP-P348AM schematics?
                by mon2
Hi. Servicing a XBR75X850F with no power. Originally had no standby voltage of 3v3 -> found a defective SB260 diode (apparently a common fault) and now have this rail. No relay sound upon power up. Bypassed the POWER ON and T-Con with the standby voltage and do see the ~12v steady on the pin 26 of the power connector (T-CON). This implies bad emmc (Nick's TV repair YT videos). Replaced the BGA but still no power on LED / no relay.

Any suggestions on faults? Any schematics for this unit?

Did observe that the zener near the offline IC that feeds into opto-coupler is...

                Liteon PA-12617 dead (Lenovo ideacentre3)
                by s_henya
                Hi Guys,
Trying to save this PSU from going to the bin.
                PSU was found dead:
                1.. Main fuse blown
                2. Main switching transistor shortes
                3. rectifier bridge shorted
                4. low ohm resistor blown

replaced all of the above (resistor was replaced with a. Thin wire since i don't know what was the original value)

Have 330v on main cap. But standby is still not right.

                maybe the driver chip died?...

                Liteon pa-3271-06mx help!!!!
                by NConstantinou
                Dear all,

i have the above power supply from Microsoft desktop surface.
                fuse was blown and changed.
On input lines L & N i get a very little ac reading.
i checked fuse, filter capacitors, coils, main mosfet and main capacitor and nothing is shown as short except the RV001 which i assume is a NTC varistor.
i removed varistor and applied heat and is decreasing which means works ok.
i remove bridge rectifier and i measured in diode mode and it looks fine.

Is the problem on rectifier, it is not suppling ac!

                ...
