Go to the HP support site, enter your serial number.Download the bios update and run the exe. It will give an option to make a recovery USB drive or you can choose to save to a location. If you choose to save to a location all the bios will be decrypted and saved. If there is only one bios then that is what you can use.If there are multiple then you need to know which one to choose. Open your bios backup (if you have one) with a hex editor and search for the file names, sometimes they start with the word BID .You can flash the virgin bios but you will lose all DMI info.If you have a backup its relatively easy to copy all the info from the backup to the virgin bios with a hex editor,it will take you less than 5 minutes from downloading, extracting and copying the DMI.

                not a bios issue.

Probably some kind of short on some S0 rail.
I don't provide help for people using CH341A and a clip.

try this one. if it doesn't work, maybe its an EC firmware problem of bad SIO.

Recently I used the official Lenovo bios updater software on my ThinkBook 13s G3 ACN (20YA0005GE). The updating process failed and I got a black screen after powering the device. Of course I did not make an own backup before using the Lenovo bios updater.

I bought a CH341A programmer and was able to make a connection to the chip while it is still soldered on board. But I did not realise that the chip was a 16MB size and selected the wrong size (8Mbit / 1 MByte) before reading the content of my chip. So the dump I did before erasing the chip is only 1MByte big. I fear that I lost...

                                  Hello,

i hope to find help her in the forum. It is a littlebit tricky. I searched many Days about disabling IntelME that was may major task. So i have a Clevo PD50PNN motherboard.

At first i tried to Backup the BIOS with tools direcly from Windows(normaly i am a Linux user). But no full success because not every part of the bios was readable. So i bought a modified CH341a for a Backup.

Backup worked but since the backup the Laptop is not booting anymore. I flashed the newest Version oft the BIOS with success, verfiy everything ok.
                                  But the...

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                  Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                  Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...
