Hello, I did as the moderator on the forum described to me, it was easy to patch new bios, now the laptop works but only on the HDMI connector, which was not working before, now I can see on the laptop display that the backlight is not working, if possible, with an idea that it would be the backlight fuse on the PCB

      thank you in advance

Update the bios to a newer one and see if the screen works. If not i suspect the cable was removed while the battery was plugged in. If you want help with a hardware problem please start a new thread in laptop troubleshooting.

          Hello everyone,
          I need some help with a Lenovo Flex 5-14ALC05 (Type 82HU) with motherboard LC56-14A / 203021-1 (SVT).

The laptop was originally bricked during a BIOS update.
I dumped the SPI chip (Winbond W25Q128JW, 1.8V) using CH341A and I have:
          • my original 16MB dump
          • a clean GJCN27WW 16MB dump from post #2
          • I followed the CopyDMI.mps procedure exactly as described in the thread.

          Steps I did:
          1. Created C:\DMICOPY
          2. Placed oldbios.bin (my dump), newbios.bin (GJCN27WW.bin), and CopyDMI.mps inside
          3. Ran the macro from Tiny Hexer → it opened both files
          4. Saved the modified newbios.bin
          5. Verified the DMI was copied (my MTM 82HU00MTIX appears inside the file)
          6. Flashed it to the chip (Erase → Program → Verify)

But the laptop still does not POST.

Symptoms after flashing the merged BIOS:
          • fans spin for 1 second
          • keyboard lights up briefly
          • ESC and CAPS LOCK LEDs stay solid
          • screen shows a small backlight pulse but stays black
          • no Lenovo logo, no POST

At this point I believe the problem is not only DMI, but the EC/SMU/AMD firmware region of my original dump is partially corrupted (I see large FF blocks), and this Flex 5 revision (LC56-14A SVT) may require a correct EC/SMU region transplanted from a working dump.

I think I need help rebuilding a complete hybrid BIOS, with:
          • EC/SMU (and possibly PSP) from my dump
          • Main BIOS / DXE / AGESA from GJCN27WW
          • DMI from my dump
          • Clean NVRAM if required

          I am attaching:
          • my original dump (oldbios.bin)
          • GJCN27WW.bin (newbios.bin)
          • my merged newbios.bin after CopyDMI

Any help rebuilding a fully working BIOS for this board would be greatly appreciated.
          Thank you!

          Hello,
thank you very much for preparing a new BIOS for me — I really appreciate your time and help.

          I wanted to update you:
I managed to fix the laptop successfully.
The issue was not related to the BIOS content itself, but to the programming software.

I originally used the standard CH341A Programmer, which kept failing verification and was writing the SPI chip incorrectly (W25Q128JW, 1.8V).
After switching to NeoProgrammer, the flash and verify completed without errors, and the laptop booted immediately.

So the DMI-merged BIOS I had was already correct — the programming tool was the real problem.

Thanks again for your support and for providing the BIOS file.
          Everything is working now!

                Hi peste,

thank you for your fast answer.

                Actually it doesn't work.

After successfully programming the memory with NeoProgrammer V2.2.0.10, I tried the "blank check" and the response was:

                "Erasure control...
Verification error on address: 0x00000000, Device: 0x02
                Execution time: 00:00:00.036"

Am I doing something wrong? My programming skills are not so good

Do you need more information to help me'?

The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

you need an SPI programmer...here is a video for example..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWWi...nnel=ThisIsHow

I try to unsolder the chip from the board.
Then I solder it on the SPI programmer.
So I don't need the 1.8V Adapter anymore?
I solder the Chip directly on the programmer, right?

I let you know whether it worked or not.

                    Thank you for now.

Use the 1.8V adapter of course, the BIOS chip is 1.8V, otherwise you'll damage it, you can solder the BIOS to the SOP8 to DIP adapter PCB, it should go like this:
                      BIOS chip -> SOP8 adapter -> 1.8V adapter -> CH341A
                      Or
                      BIOS chip -> SOP8 clip -> 1.8V adapter -> CH341A

After successfully programming the memory with NeoProgrammer V2.2.0.10, I tried the "blank check" and the response was:
                      Erase - Program - Verify
Blank check should be done only after erasing, before programming, of course "Blank check" will fail on a programmed chip (not "blank"/erased)

Also make sure you prepare the new BIOS file using the instructions at post 344 with the CopyDMI script, this is to transfer your S/N, MTM, model name, etc and the Win key

Thank you very much good sir.
The file is working, I have now recovered the laptop.

At first it got stuck on writing, but I cancelled it, read IC, erased IC and tried writing again and it worked.

I have donated to contribute to the forum and hopefully you will keep helping people like you do !
