    Bios hp 15-bs289wm

    HP 15-bs289wm
    LA-G121P
    CND8280PNG
5 long 3 short on caps lock

I found and extracted the BIOS from HP but its not the same as the one I got out of the programmer. Large portions at the start and end are just FF or 00. I am certain i was using the proper version out of the 4 in the decompressed files. I went to like 42 49 44 to find which version it is. I dunno maybe the old BIOS was corrupt? Im probably just doing it wrong.

Can someone build me a working BIOS and I can check it against what I did?

The Original BIOS and the extracted BIOS from HP are in the zip file. The OG BIOS is named XM25Q64@SOIC8.BIN. It should use 084D4.bin if I remember correctly.

Anyone happen to know a decent video or detailed post on doing this? I have been trying to follow a video of some guy from India speaking their native language.

    Thanks

remove the bios chip from the motherboard before writing or reading, do not use the clip as you may get errors, if you do not have a bios chip adapter, solder the bios chip to the programmer, if you have CH341A, or solder wires between the programmer and bios chip ... if you didn't write anything on the bios chip, try reading and posting again ... look for more videos on the net in this regard ..
bios and EC bios extracted from the HP site update, the laptop has five bios variants ....

What does it mean when I read the EC and its all 00?

Im using pins 119 MISO, 120 MOSI, 126 CLK, 128 CS, 125 VSS, GND

      ENE 9022Q

EDIT: I had MISO/MOSI backwards but im still getting all 00

I've tried ICSP and ZIF for programming and they all return 00

Ok, I got the the EC read and backed up (apparently you have to wire it correctly ), I flashed it and im still 5+3 flashing on caps lock

Can someone check my BIOS and see if I screwed it up?

Or is there something else I need to do?

if you typed the bios on the chip without errors it should work, or the laptop could have other problems ....

                084D4.rar worked for me.
It is in manufacturing programming mode, because it is a clean file from the HP website, but solved my problem.

                Thanks friend.

you have the DMI information range at station #5 use the HxD program (it's free on the internet), enter both bios into the program (your laptop and the virgin one),
select that interval mentioned in both bios, copy the interval in your bios and pass it to the virgin bios (copy - paste)....and that's it...

                    Greetings badcaps community,

I havent done this for a long time and want to start it all again, after some evil and annyoing illness.
So I apologize in advance, if some phrases might sound a bit like gibberish or illogical to you.

Im trying my best to fully describe what I plan to achieve and hope I was choosing the right sub-forum for my new adventure.

                    I have a Elitebook 820 G1 and a Elitebook 840 G2 here.

These ask for a password when entering the BIOS, but boot just fine from the internal SSD.

                    I learned that desoldering...

My pc updated bios through Windows Update and I was greeted with BLACK SCREEN WITH CPU FAN MAX SPEED. I don't think there is even a screen signal, because it triggers my monitor for a couple seconds and then the monitor turns off. I tried the other outputs as well.
                    1. I tried clearing bios, resetting bios, removed the CMOS battery, removed m.2 ssd, wifi, and ram. Still black screen with CPU fan blasting.
                    2. I tried using the Lenovo BIOS CD and BIOS USB, but neither worked. At least I couldn't get anything to work.
                    3. I could only locate two chips that look like bios chips. Could someone verify this

                    🛠️ MSI GP75 Leopard MS-17E71 – No Display, Deep BIOS/EC Troubleshooting
                    by macabook
                    Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
                    🧩 Initial Issue
                    • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
                    • External display (HDMI) shows
                    ...

Thinkpad t480s, completely dead after BIOS flash using CH341A programmer
                    by what_1282105
Following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/co...g_and_flashing) i re-flashed my t480s BIOS using an external (CH341A) programmer. The flash didnt work, so i reverted back to my BIOS backup successfully. The BIOS in the chip and the BIOS backup file are identical according to windows' file compare. The revert, however, didnt work: the only thing the computer does is flash the power button 3 times when AC power is connected. I've tried unplugging the CMOS battery, holding the reset button and holding down the power button- no signs of life....
