    Lenovo Ideapad 305-15IBD Bios required

    Hi Guys
I have a Lenovo Ideapad 305 laptop here

Long story short - it was brought to me by another alleged repair company. It would not switch on but it would charge the baterry - I fixed this by repairing the flexi ribbon cable from the on/off switch which had a hole in it almost certainly caused by someone putting a case screw through it that was too long

After fixing that, it powers on for a couple seconds then powers off again. Pressing the start button repeats the process. I get no picture, just the fans spin and I hear the HDD spin up. I tried unfreezing the SIO and resetting the BIOS, no difference. Tried with our without HDD, with PSU/Battery and both no difference. Tried with just one DIMM in either slot, no difference.

I can see I have 3.3V and 5V but 1.7V, 1.1V, 1.35V come on for a couple seconds then go off again.

After that I noticed someone has previously desoldered the BIOS and I have no idea what file it has been programmed with

I read the BIOS contents (attached). The Eprom is a GD25B64BSIG and identifies/reads OK

Can anyone give me a known good BIOS file or compare the one I posted with a known good one and tell me if it is OK or not?

    Thanks
    Richard

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 305 Bios required

Thanks for the BIOS file, unfortunately it made no difference - the laptop still has the same symptoms. The battery charges OK, when I press the start button it goes green, I hear the fan and HDD spin up, then after a couple of seconds the green LED goes out, the HDD clicks then spins down and the fan stops.

I know that I have 3.3V and 5V stable but Vram, Vcore and the 1.7V rail are powering up then down again

I'd like to go a bit further with this one, mainly to see if I am better than he previous tech who looked at this but now I am getting into new territory so I have quite a few questions

1/ Does anyone have a schematic for this board ZIWB2 / ZIWB3 / ZIWE1 LA-8092P Rev 3.0? Most likely I think I would find that the SIO or EC or whatever they call the damn thing these days is causing the power rails to come on then go off again, but it would be nice to check that.

2/ The SIO is NPCE288NA0DX. This is a programmable device, I found this video showing how to do it

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpTD-HwqbMQ

He is using an IR16 programmer. I had a look but I couldn't find any obvious links to buy one of these. Is this what I need or should I be looking at some other device? I currently just have a TL866CS and a CH341A with 1.8V adapter.

3/ Where do I find the software file? Here?

4/ Should I be trying to reprogram the original SIO or buying a new one? I can also see cheap Nuvoton 288 adapter boards on this page for RT809F/RT809H so maybe that answers Question 2
          https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale...chText=npce288

5/ Should I be looking at other likely causes before considering reprogramming the SIO? I heard Lenovo SIO are prone to having a hole burnt in the but this one looks OK physically

Hopefully someone can educate me on the above topics.
          TIA
          Rich

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 305 Bios required

The bios is ok. The schematic has been posted in the schematics requests section https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...light=LA-B092P

For the programmer youve got a choice, Vertyanov JIG,SVOD3 or 4 ,RT809H ,theres some others too but a lot more expensive than those.

              Hi all,

I'm trying to remove the supervisor password from a Lenovo 305-15IBD (serial number MP13EAJA, board LA-B092P). I've used Autopatcher successfully before, but with this one I get the same error message that some others have reported:

Using UEFIReplace to inject 2 DXE drivers...
              [1/2] BootOption (GUID e0746c42-d3f9-4f8b-b211-1410957b9ff5)
c:\temp\bios_original.bin is corrupted or does not contain a valid dump.
              There was an error... Aborting.

I don't think that the file I'm using *is* actually corrupted or invalid, because I can load it into my programmer and verify it against the chip on the board.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going wrong?

I can confirm that the BIOS file from post #3 works fine as an alternative, but it would still be nice to keep the original one and to understand why Auto-Patcher isn't working for me.

OK, so it looks like I'll be sticking with the generic BIOS. Which is fine. Does anyone know if this Auto-Patcher issue is likely to be fixed?

If you're brave, you can try this! No idea if it will work for testing.

otherwise you would have to disable multiple vss keys to see if one of them disables the password. or it may be stored elsewhere in the padding

The Autopatcher doesn`t work with this type of bios (Insyde) , there`s nothing to fix, it`s free and only works on certain models.

                      Bios + DMI attached.

Do you think it could work by invalidating the VSS or with a full FF instead?

I should have trusted the number of characters and the corresponding checksum.
                            In addition, we know it.
Finally, I mix everything up by dint of searching.

                              Yeah, the checksum makes sense. 01+26+D9 = 100h (256)

So a couple of years ago i got a bios update through Lenovo Vantage, so i installed it and bricked my whole BIOS, so i couldn't fix it so i put that ideapad in a box, 3 years later i found that one PC and want to recover it to switch from a 2014 hp laptop to this one.

I found a method to recover the BIOS of many lenovo laptops tha consists in pluging in a USB Flash with the BIOS files and power on the laptop with Fn + R keys pressed until fans go loud and start beeping loud, but nothing worked, so i think filename is wrong, i tried naming the bios file as 07WW.BIN, BIOS.BIN, BIOS.fd,...

                                Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 Desktop - Corrupt BIOS

                                Hello there.

I am working on a Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 desktop that currently has a corrupt BIOS and I have been unsuccessful thus far in trying to fix it myself.

                                History:

                                1. This computer came to me initially with an error message that said "BiInitializeLibrary failed 0xc0000001" or "0135 fan error". It would always be one of the two errors. It should be noted that when it produced the fan error, there was no physical problem with the fans. They were all spinning just fine.

I searched for this error online and discovered...

Lenovo IdeaPad U330p Read Bios than Bios Password Remove
                                by Popel1083
                                Hi,
I want to remove the Bios Password of my Lenovo IdeaPad U330p with the Lenovo autopatcher. I have the CH341A Black and I'm using NeoProgrammer. The Programmer has an LED that indecates when it reads or writes the Chip. When I try to Connect my Programmer to the Bios Chip (Winbond 25Q64FVSIQ) the LED lights up even though I didn't click on Detect botton in NeoProgrammer. If i click on Detect the LED still remains on and NeoProgrammer says "IC not responding".
