    MSI - GE72 6QD Apache Pro - gaming laptop

Hello everyone, I need a dump file for MSI gaming laptop GE72 6QD

    MSI GE72 6QD APACHE PRO ( Skylake)
    MB: MS-1795
    BIOS Version 106
    ec 101

What I have done: Tried to update BIOS from HDD from inside the BIOS built-in tool, it went succesfull the laptop restarted and had blank black screen no backlight. CPU fan spins after a minute, cpu-gpu warm, keyboard lit.

Currently waiting for the CH341A programmer to arrive.
    I updated a 2015??? bios to 2018E1795IMS.11D /dont know the old version precisely./

I used the latest bios from that website and did not check their suggestion so ended up with bricked board.

is the bios on the MSI site, you won't find a better one, what programmer do you have? did you remove the bios chip from the board before writing?

with the clip you may have errors..it would be better to remove the chip from the board, or to glue wires between the programmer and the chip ..

I received today the programmer, i did use the file as you linked from the manufacturer website. I was able to write it for the first time, had no issue.

I was worried about EC chip (Don`t know what is that for yet) but that was fine.

                      Hi,
I've a MSI GE72 which crashed during firmware update, according to the customer.
The symptoms are exact like original poster's issue.
I did flash a new BIN to the chip (off board). This did not change anything.
I do see traffic between bios and cpu when probing pin 2 and 5 of the bios chip, so something is good.
The final thing I want to try is reflashing the EC. I did practice on another board with the ENE KB9028Q on it, which succeeded, so I'd like to give it a go on this one.
Can somebody help me with an EC dump?

I get verification errors while dumping this EC.
                      Serial number is GE72 6QD-016NLK1509000008.
So I probably found the smoking gun: corrupt EC chip.

I do have spare EC chips, so that shouldn't be a problem. Unless you really need a dump.

                              Thanks for the quick effort.
Unfortunately this did not change the laptop's behavior.
From this point on this machine sadly became a brick.

Would you by any chance have the ec dump for Kb9028q - C for the MSI GF63 Thin 10SC-838. (i5 10500H, 1650 max q).
My laptop is at a repair shop which broke it and is claiming they can't do anything as they don't have the program to flash onto a new chip.

                                      Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...

ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - BIOS Help
                                      by grimacelord
                                      Hello,

I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.

I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.

The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.

Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...

Hello, first of all, excuse me, I am using the translator, English is not my native language.

                                      I have a Lenovo ideapad 330S - 14IKB laptop.

The tablet did not recognize me when I connected it, so I checked the device manager and I realized that there were many with the exclamation mark, so one by one I began to update their drivers until the sign disappeared of admiration, I even updated the BIOS, and the laptop rebooted normally and worked, so far so good, but the tablet still did not recognize me, I read on the internet that it could be due to a...

BIOS Help Regarding GM5IX7A-GM6IX7A Origin Laptop

                                      Hi,
I have OriginPC EON 15SL, however, my laptop starts and shutsdown after 1-2 second. Keyboard leds are coming on then fans spinning then it shutsdown and not turning back on unless I plug out the power cable and plug it in. I had issues with bricked BIOS then I flashed BIOS I got from the vendor to the SPI chip and still it didn’t worked because my EC firmware was newer than the BIOS I have flashed. So I wanted to try flashing the EC chip with the correct firmware that matches with the BIOS also from the vendor and it worked everything was well, and then stupid me wanted to unlock some...
