Hi All,
After reading all the threads I have a question, that hopefully someone can help with. I have an Elitebook 830 G5 and I am trying to remove admin BIOS password with the unlock tool
Looking at the mobo, I have THREE Winbond ICs and I am not sure which one (or in which order) I am suppose to re-program.
So far, I have dumped and re-flashed the 25Q256JV and 25Q128JV using the unlock tool, but the password remains. I did these separate and powering on the laptop in between each one.
I have just found a Winbond 25Q80DV under a sticker!
Does this 25Q80DV also need to be re-flashed?
Please could you guys tell me what order I need to do this etc?

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,... -

I have an EliteBook 850 G5. After a Windows update, including a BIOS update, the notebook turns on, but the screen remains black, and the fans spin at high speed—nothing else happens.
I assume the BIOS update failed, so I searched for the BIOS chip.
I found a Winbond chip located between the RAM and the hard drive, which has a size of 32 MB.
However, the BIOS update available on HP's website is only 17 MB in size. I used the update version that was previously installed when the notebook was still working.
