HP 17-CB0534SA BIOS MPM/BCU Help please
Hi All,
I have an HP 17-CN0534SA laptop which has had a motherboard swap. When looking at the BIOS data for the Serial Number, Product Number etc is all listed as "N/A". I have used BCU to try and update the data however all I receive if Error Code 6 - Access Denied when I attempt to write back ANY values (this includes trying to change the MPM flag). I think the BIOS is locked, but I am not sure how to unlock it?
Please could any of you help?
HP Model - 17-CN0534SA
Product ID - 88Z23EA#ABU
Serial - 5CG3321XZZ

Open you BIOS dump file in HxD
Run a Search (Menu -> Search, Find) for your current Serial (using Unicode Text Encoding)
Replace your Serial number with the new number
Save the BIOS dump as a new file name
Done

For anyone having this issue, here is the resolution. The issue relates to a corrupt BIOS which needs restoring.
Download the latest BIOS update from HP, create USB stick (using the HP utility in the BIOS download from HP)
Connect the USB stick to the laptop.
Power on the laptop and if you have this issue it will power on (led on power button) then as we know, the laptop constantly reboots.
After a reboot, as the power led switches off, press and hold Windows + B keys, keep holding...Leave a comment:
