    A1398 EMC 2910 820-00426-A BIOS issue

    Hello
Got this board turning on but no image.
Tried a different dump and it works.

Now, I want to keep the same serial number on the new file, and I think some checksum needs to be done, and also clear ME region

I was able to update the SN, but I dont have the knowledge to update the checksum and clear ME

    Can anyone help?

Here are both files, the original bios that gives no image, and the new dump, with serial number updated.

    Thanks in advance

Updating the checksum is quite easy once you learn how to do it

      Thank you SMDFlea!
I was just looking at those vids, good stuff!

Just managed to update the SN and Fsys value, seems to be fine now.

Do I still need to Clear ME region on this dump I got from Vinafix?

      Thanks once again!

Ususally if someone has cleaned the ME firmware the filename should say clean, clean me,me clean, outimage or similar. There`s no way of checking with MEAnalyzer with FW older than version 11 if its clean or not,so its always a good idea to clean it anyway,as you never know if someone has cleaned it properly or not. @piernov has another video showing the settings to check, there`s a link to it in this thread, along with some firmware https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=946573

In general if the EFFS partition of the ME region (open in UEFITool NE) only contains 0xFF after a tenth or so it means it's been cleaned, but no way to be sure if it's been done properly.

            Well noted Piernov thank you.

Ill doublewatch your vids to learn how to do it properly.

            @SMDFlea thanks for the dump!
Works fine, but when I start the internet recovery feature, I get Chinese characters!

I assume by 'clear bios' you mean EFI lock, as I can see a Message Authenticaion Code present in the SVS store. If so, try this and write back.

Who the hell knows what "clear bios" means.

This is why we added this to the rules:

Post what the problem is, be specific, - black screen, no boot, running slow, password.Do NOT post "clean me", "clear bios", "clean bios", "bios need" or other such terms
