problems copying data from old bios to new one da0y0qmbc0
Hi guys i'm very new to this so i apologise in advance for the stupid questions that will follow.
i have a HP stream that would power on but display a black screen back light would kick in but that's about it.
I guessed the bios was corrupt so de-soldered it off the board put in the bios programmer i have found the bios on here for it flashed it and hey presto the laptop booted perfectly. how ever i had an error as expected about it being in a manufacturer program is in unlock mode.
i tried to copy the region data from the old bios to the new one but it wont write the new bios file i get this error "function called with invalid parameter"
i was wondering if it is anything to do with the error i get when opening the old bios file i saved from the chip it is as follows.
"parseRawArea: one of volumes inside overlaps the end of data" and this
"checkTeImageBase: TE image base is neither zero, nor original, nor adjusted, nor top-swapped"
thanks for any and all help.

That's why the original bios is always backed up and required to be attached.Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows

by piratiHello everyone,
I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.
When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.
I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...-

by jbonavitaHi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized
Things I tried
1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...-

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-
