Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
You don't need T203, just a programmer for 1.8v. This will only work on older bridgeOS versions. Please read the previous posts on how you can achieve this.Leave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
Is there currently any working HW method to unlock T2s (such as Mina) that doesn't cost that anyone knows about?
I can buy a T203 but I just don't know if it is worthless now as I read things were patched with iBridge and stuffLeave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
The online iCloud/Activation lock checkers are trash. They will only tell you if a board/unit has *EVER* had iCloud/Activation lock enabled/turned-on, not if it's *currently* enabled/locked or not. And even that is hit-or-miss. I have checked over a dozen 100%-confirmed-unlocked/unactivated boards (i.e. install them, install MacOS, confirm no lock with my own eyes right in front of me), but the online tools/checker said they're locked. Also vice-versa; have had one that was clearly locked, but online said it wasn't. This scenario much more uncommon though.
I spoke with the owner of one of these pay services and he said they "use Apple's servers" to check, but when I told him the tool didn't seem to be accurate (and sent him videos showing it), he stopped replying to me. To be clear, we were checking both the "activation status" and "FMM on/off".
Best way to check is to just manually try to install MacOS. Or, if you know someone with access to GSX, they can reliably check FMM/iCloud status of any serial.Last edited by ugamazing; 11-25-2022, 11:42 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
Yes I use this MDM checker online. 5 cents a check. It sucks but meh that's the best I can do. I know you can check serials online for free but status checks are weird. I'm trying to figure out how they are pulling from Apple servers to do this would be better to be free and check ourselves. I'm certain website costs and server load is why they are charging when thousands are pulling info. No clue. Maybe that will be our check system one day.Leave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
I was looking for less generic answer that would point me where exactly that can be done since I checked online extensively and haven't found any place free or paid that would verify it. ThanksLeave a comment:

One of the more recent updates has removed the choice to select the language before checking for activation lock. It's best not to reset or the method I described will never work.Leave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
In my case, I've reset the mac and I don't have the recovery installed, so when I press CMD+R with usb Hdd with Catalina Os attached at MBA, going out only the world with wifi "choose network" request, I think for download internet recovery.Leave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
On a icloud locked a2179, I found the user's email in plain text using checkra1n and running the "strings" command on the NVRAM file in /var/private/db. I think that was the file and location.. Unsurprisingly the user didn't reply to my email or iMessage about unlocking..
How I can find this information?Leave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
I booted from a USB external MACOS installation (I used micro SD card in a USB C adapter), but it only allows you to access a terminal.
I don't know how to activate from the terminal, but others may know how this can be done.Leave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
Just found something interesting.
If you have an external disk with a MACOS installation (not an installer), you can boot from this if you hold CMD-R for a minute whilst it boots. You can release CMD-R once the loading bar appears. This will boot the recovery from the external disk instead of downloading it. I used Catalina, but others may work.
Once at the language selection, you can press CMD-T to bring up a Terminal.
Have you use a usb-c hub, right? Or usb-c ssd directly?
ThanksLeave a comment:

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool
Hi to all.
Sorry for my bad english.
I read all of 20th pages, and I want to thanks all.
I have an A2179 MBA with activation lock.
I have also the macbook password but the system said that I enter incorrect password too much time, an I can't use this method for bypass activation lock.
Moreover if I can find the complete email address of icloud I can retrieve the password.
What can I do? I have the new bridge.
I can boot with CMD+R and macOs hdd?
I don't be able to boot up with macOs external hdd.
Tks so much.Leave a comment:

by acedogblastThis is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.
There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as... -
by baletakHi,
had T490 with faulty bios chip. Bought chip out of ebay and soldered on. Laptop starts and works however serial numbers of laptop and motherboard do not match.
I have updated laptop model number.
1) I did not find the way to update laptop serial number - I have this one.
2) I dont know where to get my motherboard serial number and how to update it. Is it somewhere physically on the mainboard? How do I update it?
Hope to find someone to help me with this as I am hitting dead end at the moment.
Many thanks

by SMDFleaAdding chip support is quite easy, there`s even some instructions included with NeoProgrammer, although its not obvious where they are
and once you do find them there`s a few crucial steps missing.
Extract chiplist.zip to a folder, the instructions are in Import_EN.txt and in Import.xml .Its the xml file where we add the new chip.
Open Import.xml with notepad or any other text editor. In this example i`m adding a Macronix MX77L25650F SPI_NOR chip.
After adding the chip save the xml file and copy it to the root directory of the...-

Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... - Loading...
