You can help others who have the same problem in the future by posting how you solved yours. The last time I had this experience, I used another Macbook to securely erase the SSD and it worked afterwards....

This project will do a whole lot of good to the community if we could connect without having to desolder the chip (i.e if we are able to connect via dfu mode) and also if we are able to edit the serial this way....

We don't bypass MDM on T2 devices, we remove it by simply replacing the serial number with a non-MDM serial.
Well done on your achievements so far, I'll be following with keen interest....

I’ve had two instances where the Mac got locked the to the preexisting iCloud on the new serial.
1. The Mac was restored on AC (because it couldn’t power on after changing serial). After restoration, it asks for activation and it suddenly brings an iCloud account that was never associated with the original serial.
2. The user already updated the system to latest MacOS version but wants to remove his information before selling. After he signed out his own iCloud information and wants to erase the mac from system settings, it was asking for another iCloud account which...

When you change an activatiion-locked T2 Mac Serial, the Mac won't be able to pass the activation check. This is why you will always get activation error. You need to put back the original file (with sn) and you activation process will proceed to the next step (where it asks for Icloud details).
Also, you cannot remove activation lock by swapping SN (with clean SN). It could only be removed from the Apple server or if you can manage to swap T2 chip (from an unlocked board)....

I think Apple found a way to patch our serial number change method of removing MDM. I also did a serial number swap (to remove MDM) and boom, the Mac is now icloud locked (with the new serial number). It seems Apple now revalidates the new serial number if it is linked to pre-existing FMI, which is now being triggered to lock the device on the new bridgeOS update.

Re: Macbook M1 Unlocked!
Hey Stephen, have you heard of the software method for editing T2 serial? I came across the download link, but it's a paid service.
I'm wondering if your software guy could work around it and make it free for all....
