Does anyone have a method to see if dead T2 MacBook has iCloud activation lock enabled ? Every time I want to buy dead T2 it’s a crap shoot.

You can check serial numbers online or use a paid service.

I was looking for less generic answer that would point me where exactly that can be done since I checked online extensively and haven't found any place free or paid that would verify it. Thanks

Yes I use this MDM checker online. 5 cents a check. It sucks but meh that's the best I can do. I know you can check serials online for free but status checks are weird. I'm trying to figure out how they are pulling from Apple servers to do this would be better to be free and check ourselves. I'm certain website costs and server load is why they are charging when thousands are pulling info. No clue. Maybe that will be our check system one day.

What MDM checker charges 5cents? The one I use charges up to $2 and they sometimes return null value.

The online iCloud/Activation lock checkers are trash. They will only tell you if a board/unit has *EVER* had iCloud/Activation lock enabled/turned-on, not if it's *currently* enabled/locked or not. And even that is hit-or-miss. I have checked over a dozen 100%-confirmed-unlocked/unactivated boards (i.e. install them, install MacOS, confirm no lock with my own eyes right in front of me), but the online tools/checker said they're locked. Also vice-versa; have had one that was clearly locked, but online said it wasn't. This scenario much more uncommon though.

I spoke with the owner of one of these pay services and he said they "use Apple's servers" to check, but when I told him the tool didn't seem to be accurate (and sent him videos showing it), he stopped replying to me. To be clear, we were checking both the "activation status" and "FMM on/off".

Best way to check is to just manually try to install MacOS. Or, if you know someone with access to GSX, they can reliably check FMM/iCloud status of any serial.

Is there currently any working HW method to unlock T2s (such as Mina) that doesn't cost that anyone knows about?

I can buy a T203 but I just don't know if it is worthless now as I read things were patched with iBridge and stuff

You don't need T203, just a programmer for 1.8v. This will only work on older bridgeOS versions. Please read the previous posts on how you can achieve this.

                        Hi Stephen!
At step 13, when Mina tool is used for jailbreaking, do I have to pay 100 USD?

After an icloud bypass procedure it is possible to receive updates from apple.
I mean if Catalina is restored on machine, and an macOS Ventura update is available from App Store could this update be installed ?

This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

                                            Hi,
had T490 with faulty bios chip. Bought chip out of ebay and soldered on. Laptop starts and works however serial numbers of laptop and motherboard do not match.
I have updated laptop model number.

                                            1) I did not find the way to update laptop serial number - I have this one.
                                            2) I dont know where to get my motherboard serial number and how to update it. Is it somewhere physically on the mainboard? How do I update it?

Hope to find someone to help me with this as I am hitting dead end at the moment.

                                            Many thanks

How to add chip support to NeoProgrammer software for the CH341A Programmer
                                            by SMDFlea
Adding chip support is quite easy, there`s even some instructions included with NeoProgrammer, although its not obvious where they are
and once you do find them there`s a few crucial steps missing.

Extract chiplist.zip to a folder, the instructions are in Import_EN.txt and in Import.xml .Its the xml file where we add the new chip.

Open Import.xml with notepad or any other text editor. In this example i`m adding a Macronix MX77L25650F SPI_NOR chip.

After adding the chip save the xml file and copy it to the root directory of the...

Q: Why is my bios chip unreadable ?.

A: The programmer is faulty or has a worn or broken zif socket.

The USB cable is frayed, connector pins worn or some other physical damage.

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
                                            by BMCappelletti
                                            Long story short:
                                            - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
                                            - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
                                            - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
                                            - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...
