Check the part number on top of the chip and google it, look at the datasheet, if the size is only 1MB it is probably for USB-C firmware, leave it alone.

Maybe the problem is with your programmer, and you could have also used the "dbihg" password I've posted almost 6 weeks ago.
Hi AAAC i just want to say that you have right that`s the password thank you again for help!

I'm gonna have to find the proper clip for this one

    Thanks
You can use a Pogo Connector. Versions for 5x6 and 8x6 are availlable. I found mine on amazon and it worked just fine for my V110G5

It could be in WSON package (8*6 or 6*5). You can send a clear image for the chip to let us help you more.

Hi, thanks a lot for your answer, but according to https://www.winbond.com/hq/product/c...artNo=W25Q80DV is an 8MB chip. Or am I wrong ?

It is true however that IMSprog identifies the chip as a 1 MB

And I examined with great care the motherbord but I couldn't find any Windond / EEPROM chip

Would you suggest me to entirely remove the motherboard to see if it's on the other face ?

    TIA, with regards

so I decided to save it and write a fresh BIOS downloaded from the GETAC site (V110G6_R108.bin) and flash it straight to the EEPROM

    Hello

I own three GETAC V110 V6, all three with a locked BIOS (BIOS password set and lost).

There is no OS on the HDD and no boot is allowed on external devices.

I'd wish to get those 3 machine alive, again, and at the very best understand how the whole damn thing works.

What I did on one system :

opened it and located the Winbond 25Q80DVSIG eeprom and was able to read the BIOS with a CH341/IMSprog (proper modification applied to the CH341 to have the right voltage on the entire chip)

so I decided to save it and write a fresh BIOS downloaded from the GETAC site (V110G6_R108.bin) and flash it straight to the EEPROM

powered the laptop back, tried to enter the BIOS and got prompted for a password again

I tried to read the original BIOS with binwalk and an Hex editor but didn't succeed in finding anything and in the various tests I made, I lost the backup of the original BIOS (yeah, I know, this sucks)

nonetheless I decided to erase the Windond chip and see what this would do, it changed nothin : BIOS passwd prompt, again

so there is something somewhere such like the system setup utility whish is stored somewhere else and this is where I'm stuck for I had a close look of the motherboard and couldn't find a plausible candidate

any hint or help will be grealty appreciated

    regards

    *** EDITED ***

I was able to dd a bootable Windows 10 on the machine, so the passwd is still here but I can run some stuff from here - unfortunately the secure boot was activated so no Linux, Windows only
