HP 15-ah151sa MB ACW51 LA-C502P rev1.0 BIOS MOD REQUIRED TO ENABLE DVD

Hi. I need modification of this original bios that comes from HP 15-ah151sa MB ACW51 LA-C502P rev1.0. I've soldered DVD connector on the motherboard (normally this laptop comes without DVD).

Now I need to boot from DVD Drive and be able to use it in windows as well. Can anybody enable DVD drive and DVD boot in bios, please?

All this because original HDD cable is lost and I can't find a new one, so I want to install HDD in DVD->HDD adapter. Thank you.

I'll try to clarify what I'm exactly after, again.

so I need modification of this original bios that comes from HP 15-ah151sa MB ACW51 LA-C502P rev1.0. I need to ENABLE DVD DRIVE and DVD DRIVE BOOT option in BIOS. As this laptop doesn't come with DVD DRIVE CONNECTOR I had to solder it on the motherboard. Now I have to enable it in BIOS but have no clue how to do it. I bought this laptop without HDD and HDD cable. It's impossible to buy HDD cable for this model (at least I couldn't find it anywhere). So my idea is to use a DVD-Drive->HDD-Drive Adapter (inside the laptop) and install HDD in DVD Bay.

Can anybody enable DVD drive and DVD boot in bios, please?

        Thank you.

Check if it helps , Step 1: See if the drive displays in BIOS

I don't think so this are so simple. You can't just solder the sata socket on the motherboard. You have to solder more components for odd socket working.

Thank you mcplslg123 for the link. I'll order it, but as I've already started this discussion I'll try to make this DVD connector working anyway.

It look like it has no missing components but I might be wrong. I have power for sure, but the BIOS doesn't recognise anything that is connected to the ODD (DVD) SATA connector. Ii might be the case of BIOS or missing components.

I believe there is HP laptop model with the same motherboard and spec but with DVD DRIVE. I just need to find correct BIOS or modify the original one to check if it was just the case of BIOS.

                Thank you for all replies.

I agree with @claudiomfa. There must be some component modification-put-shift-remove like things. Look carefully near the ODD connector for vacant pads.

As you can see, odd is enabled by default on bios options... and it is detected automatically

I don't have such a smart program to check whats enabled/disabled in BIOS. Now it's clear for me. Thank you for replies.

Missing components might be located even on the other side of board far from the connector. I have no boardview , no schematics so I think I'll leave it as it is. I've just ordered HDD cable. Hopefully it's the correct one as I don't have original part numbers.
