      Lenovo L580 20LW-0010GE bios request

      Hi there,

I need a clean bios bin file for the Lenovo L580 20LW-0010GE notebook.

I've already downloaded the most current bios updater from lenovo (R0QET69W) but it only contains a fl1 file, which is much to small for the bios chip.
So I am currently failing with the fl1 file format. Perhaps only an update or the file is compressed?

Of course the attached bios dump file may be corrupted.

I have probably overlooked some information in the forum about the fl1 file format...

      Thank you.

                        Hello to all members.

I have a curious problem with an L580.
                        Type: 20LX-S0C100
                        S/N: PF-1ETTCX

After a recent ubuntu update the computer starts, showing this error:
                        "(A7) MeFW Downgrade-Request MeSpiLock Failed"
I am not sure if the update is the reason, or if it is just a coincidence with another error.

Problem is that I can do nothing, it crashes all the time, meaning it simply shuts down. Black screen no reaction.
                        - Going into the Uefi-BIOS, I can't save changed settings, because it crashes also in he BIOS after a short time
                        - Can't boot from flash-drive because it crashes
                        - Can't start HW-Diagnosis, because it crashes
                        - Sometimes it manages to boot into the OS, but also crashes before I can do any action.

I already tried removing C-MOS battery to reset the BIOS to standard settings. Unfortunately no change in the behaviour, despite that it complains to change the date.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
Thanks and have a happy christmas!

                              Hey

I've got an L580 with locked BIOS - as far I've seen in the EC bypass thread the password is not stored in the EC itself or at least not as easily bypassable as with other ECs, so I'd be really happy if someone could unlock the attached dump
Also, are there any ressources I can refer to to learn something like that myself and help others as well? Is there any documentation about where such things are stored (aside from mere schemes depending on whether an EC even exists) or which memory regions are occupied? Or is this something to be reverse engineered? Sorry for my curiousness ^^'

Nope, at least that is nowhere on the board. If I look that up I only find boards for the T580. Did you get that number from the dump?
One additional identifier I can provide is NM-B461 or sometimes just NM-B46 if it helps.

                                  Thanks in advance

Ah well ok, my bad, didn't catch that part. Will try the bypass, thank you for pointing it out ^^'
Be careful, there are always risks with bypass. Understand and read the different situation threads carefully.

Success with LPC_AD2 - thank you very much! It seems that different pins have different symptoms when the timing is bad. Also, it seems to be a "good" sign if most of the machine metadata (like board UI, SVP etc.) is corrupted during the procedure - it announced to cancel the POST task, but I could type F1 and get to the BIOS anyway (just don't save the BIOS in that state!). It also may happen that you partially success and get access to a "harmless" part of the BIOS with less settings, but that's not the interesting part

Sorry for dumping the whole process, I know you described everything necessary in your post, but I wanted to document and share how it worked for me ^^'

Old board was P1 G1 model with i7 and it is defective. I ordered a new one with xeon, but is gen 2. Laptop case is suitable for this motherboard, with some little difference (GPU fan and subcard).Ok, ordered and replaced and GPU fan and subcard and now laptop is working fine, but serial number and UUID is unknown. Ok, i readed several topics here and found Thinkpad maintenance disk, but.....which values to type? How to find data base with those values? serial...
