Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
Hello, So I'm currently working on an HP 15-ac121dx, It gets the error "System Board (00A) - System Board CT Number."
Now, when I click F1 to get the system information it says Ct Number: HP.
I have the correct CT number, but I'm trying to get the tools to be bootable from a flash drive so i can correct the information. I get it to work and when it comes up it ask me to correct the time, I do and it says Vendor code not supported or something along those lines. Is anyone willing to help me to see what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you!Comment

Post your bios in the "Bios Requests" sub-forum and one of the members will remove the pass for you.Comment

Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
I have found out that you will need a specific SMC.bin file, which is composed be HP and requires serial numer as well as UUID.
If you just use the standard FSMC.bin file an rename it, you will end up with error message SMC comand failure.
Does anybody know, how to get this calculation done?
Or get in touch by email with HP?

Re: HP DMI Tool NBDmiFit
Hello all.
This is my first post as new user so hello all.
Got similar problen with my laptop HP-15-r101na.
After replacing motherboard receiving three error which I expected to easly fix.
Well - not really.
Can find proper tool to do so.
1. System Board (00A) - Product Name
2. System Board (00A) - Product Serial Number
3. System Board (00A) - Product Number
The only one think able to do was to update BIOS to version F.45
Then I`ve tried to use different version of NbDmiFit with error platform not supported
According to HP Serial Number Repository (Product Configuration Tracker) laptop was manufactured in 2014 so I`ve used tools supporting in theory this model - but platform not supported appear in DOS, Windows, WindowsPE
Can you recommend proper tool or any idea what I am doing wrong, please.Comment

by tsavpynDear all,
I forgot my BIOS password of my Surface Pro 3, I searched for solutions for a long time and knew that by using FPT to dump my bios to bin file and using decryptor, I can get my BIOS password.
Now I have a problem that I am unable to dump my BIOS into bin file.
My Surface Pro 3 currently runs on Ubuntu 22.04, with Secure Boot enabled and Boot From SSD Only.
I searched for FPT but there is no Linux version and none of them work.
I hereby request a copy of Intel Flash Programming Tool for Linux x64.
I would really appreciate it if anyone...-

by tony359HI all,
I am working on some boards where all 100+ SMD caps have to be replaced (yes, they actually went bad!). I found a workflow to remove them comfortably (two irons, pre-heater and extra hot air for larger ones on ground planes).
When it comes to soldering them back, I add solder to one pad and then I use a plastic tweezer to keep them in the right place while I solder that leg.
The tweezer works - but I was wondering if there is a more "dedicated" tool or whether someone has a better idea. If it was for a bunch of caps then who cares. But because... -

by samstownHello,
This special tool from Apple is used to recover data from Macbook A1706. I've been using it for a while but it stops working. When connecting Thunderbolt 3 between the tool and working Macbook, Macbook should prompt "new device detected, allow or not"... but it doesn't.
Has anyone ever experience this ? It's not a cabling or power supply issue, some IC have stopped working but not sure which one. Probably the one that manager thunderbolt 3
Thanks

by akwkyHi!
Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).
Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...04-14-2025, 01:56 PM - Loading...
