Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
@RethoricalCheese
By comparing BIOS files from post #1480 and #1484, this "New Method" won't survive a bios update, as in new file the EFI driver with name "LenovoPromptService" with GUID "AA382865-12B0-44E5-A731-6DEF4DF34CE7" gets deleted.
Other difference was in file "SystemPpisNeededByDxeCore" with GUID "4D37DA42-3A0C-4EDA-B9EB-BC0E1DB4713B", probably due to "LenovoPromptService" DXE driver deletion.Comment

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
STEP 1: Flash and replace current BIOS with the generated patch file
STEP 2: Boot the machine
STEP 3: Press ENTER/F1/etc. to enter BIOS settings
STEP 4: Enter any character when asked for Supervisor Password
STEP 5: Press enter when it shows Hardware ID
STEP 6: Press space bar 2x when asked
STEP 7: Turn off machine
STEP 8: Restore original BIOS
STEP 9: Reset BIOS settings to factory defaulTLast edited by SMDFlea; 04-01-2023, 07:27 AM.Comment

by DynaxSCHi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.
For lower chipset families (on ASUS boards) it worked to program the oldest bios version into the SPI rom, and the bios had activated the Management Engine itself by default - there was a message on the screen prior booting - "BIOS is updating Management Engine ..... . by S70rm7r00p3rHi guys.
I am very new to this business and i have some questions. Maybe someone can help me further.
I have a 2015 Intel NUC NUC6i3SYH and for some internet and office the computer works perfectly. Lately it has been bugging me a bit on and off. Then I saw there is a UEFI update from Intel and I thought if I put it on, the problems might be gone, but unfortunately the update didn't go through. The screen stayed black and after waiting for a while nothing happened, I had to pull the plug at some point. Of course, the NUC then failed to boot!

by hinsech475Hi, I would appreciate your help with the following problem.
I have a Fujitsu laptop AH562 witn a BIOS-UEFI problem since I converted the HDD to a SSD. For more details on the paltop go to the following link:
http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...srch=TECHSPECS
After copying the HDD to SSD with ALtiris utility provided with the Kingston SSD and replacing the HDD with the SSD the laptop went into a startup loop with no screen display and only the disk LED flashing twice per second. I waited for approximatly 2h and then stopped the laptop... -
by TopcatI'm stumped with this one; it was a dropoff freebie. Blank hard drive, uefi/gpt booting from USB to install OS, never gets to installer startup screen.... Win10 21H2 BSOD with stopcode 0xc000021a. BIOS settings are what they should be; legacy boot off, secureboot off. Firmware updated to latest version (A28).
It will UEFI boot & install mint 21 just fine. Will also legacy boot & install win7 and win10 just fine as well...just won't USB UEFI boot to the 10 installer...no clue as to why!

by Kambi13Hi there, recently my kid decided to mess with the uefi, don't even know how he got there and incredibly placed an Administrator Password (What's new!!!!). Of course now he doesn't know what he typed in, result, as soon as laptop boots up a password is asked. Now, I've been working with computers all my life, but my knowledge about this new UEFI chips is very limited. I've taken it out and with a rom programmer I can see a bunch of stuff in it. Does anyone know the location where the passwords are stored?
The UEFI Chip is a Gigadevice GD25B64C and the orginal rom dump is attached.
