Not all Lenovo but the business class models - mainly Thinkpad line - stores password in a 2KB sized EEPROM inside the SIO. This EEPROM can't be accessed/programmed via regular means. Its also said that this is where the machine stores TPM Certificates also. Some Romanian reverse engineering guys found a way to reprogram and remove the password without losing DMI data, TPM data etc. They use a custom BIOS code which can do this. Of course they are selling it for a high price. As far as i understand, the nice guys here are trying to reverse Engineer the code used by the Romanians and create a free solution.

I am waiting on some items to come so I can dump my bios from a T460 ThinkPad. Soon as this last remaining stuff finally arrives in the coming week I will dump the bios chip and try to do the same stuff. Will report back on how I go and if I need any help. Everyone here is so knowledgeable and helpful.

It will be good if someone unlocks their laptop using this method, post here so we know we are doing good.
I searched and searched the internet for a solution and I found it here.

Looks like there are proper patch files for 7 digit hardware ID and no generator for it.

And there is a 9 digit generator but 9 digit patch file seems to be a bit faulty.

So no working solution yet until somebody kind enough uploads either a 7 digit generator or a working 9 digit patch file.

Does anybody have files needed to patch newer Lenovos?

I mean, there are LenovoTranslateService and BootOptions sections but no SystemPpisNeededByDxeCore. Is it not needed or are there different files used?

And I have tried, the 3 files posted in this topic really do work very well. I have tried them on Carbon X1 2nd gen which is a 2014 year model.

Looks like 6th gen (X260 or similar) needs 2 or 3 files. LenovoTranslateServices and BootOptions and MAYBE fingerprint driver which was mentioned before in some post. Not sure about the last one because I haven't tested without it.

                                        Anyway, successfully unlocked X260.

I've just got my bits needed to dump my T460 bios via a Raspberry Pi + flashrom binary over SPI. I used one of those clips to attach to the BIOS chip. Was able to dump the BIOS fine.

The machine has some power related condition and I am still deciding if I should spend the money to have someone to unlock it (or not). I am not sure we have enough to perform it ourselves on here - but I guess I will give it a go.

Hi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.

                                            Hey guys,

Bought myself Surface Pro 4 tablet today on a local craigslist-type website.
I've seen that UEFI was password protected and of course the seller forgot the password, but decided to buy it anyway.
Really needed such a tablet to use with RomRaider to do some logging/tuning on my car.
It has secure boot turned off and boots from USB, so I've formatted SSD and have done clean win10 install.

Works fine, but wanted to ask, are there any real security risks associated with UEFI settings on Surface (remote access etc.)?

                                            From what I've...

Intel NUC NUC6i3SYH UEFI Update went wrong
                                            by S70rm7r00p3r
                                            Hi guys.

I am very new to this business and i have some questions. Maybe someone can help me further.

I have a 2015 Intel NUC NUC6i3SYH and for some internet and office the computer works perfectly. Lately it has been bugging me a bit on and off. Then I saw there is a UEFI update from Intel and I thought if I put it on, the problems might be gone, but unfortunately the update didn't go through. The screen stayed black and after waiting for a while nothing happened, I had to pull the plug at some point. Of course, the NUC then failed to boot!

                                            ...

                                            by hinsech475
Hi, I would appreciate your help with the following problem.

I have a Fujitsu laptop AH562 witn a BIOS-UEFI problem since I converted the HDD to a SSD. For more details on the paltop go to the following link:

                                            http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...srch=TECHSPECS

After copying the HDD to SSD with ALtiris utility provided with the Kingston SSD and replacing the HDD with the SSD the laptop went into a startup loop with no screen display and only the disk LED flashing twice per second. I waited for approximatly 2h and then stopped the laptop...
