Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Okay, sounds like a plan. Use the same password on the fileI'll certainly give it a go, just putting original back on to confirm it boots. It should, reckon the patched bios was causing a problem.
It's going to take a number of attempts I am sure. I've done it 3 times and all I got was the 5 beeps repeated so even my own attempts didn't quite work....

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Can't even power machine up. Not sure what's going on.
EDIT: putting original back on to confirm I can power it up again - which it was doing before I patched it. Perhaps this machine is not meant to be unlocked. I might have to let it go.Last edited by purana; 10-01-2019, 03:41 AM.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
I'll give it a try. I'll let you know, because I believe this post was directed to my earlier one.
Thank you for taking the time to assist. I do appreciate it.
EDIT: can you let me know the password required to extract it?...Last edited by purana; 10-01-2019, 03:00 AM.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Yes, that's the one I tried. I replaced the 2 of the 3 items from within that to my bios but after powering on with that bios it gives 5 beeps a couple of times and machine powers off.
I tried using the button internally and no change....

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
I still get the 5 beeps and using the button didn't help. I'll look into it further when time permits.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Ok, I see the little switch down near the internal battery. The only thing I replaced in the bios was the TranslateService, I wasn't sure what else to replace (or where to find things such as BootOptions etc).
Anyone able to patch my BIOS file?...

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Can someone inject what is needed into my bios file? As I am not having much luck with it. You can download my dumped bios flash file using link below;

My first attempt to do it, after i flashed it back to machine all I get is a black screen and a number of beeps repeated before machine then shuts off again.Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
I've just got my bits needed to dump my T460 bios via a Raspberry Pi + flashrom binary over SPI. I used one of those clips to attach to the BIOS chip. Was able to dump the BIOS fine.
The machine has some power related condition and I am still deciding if I should spend the money to have someone to unlock it (or not). I am not sure we have enough to perform it ourselves on here - but I guess I will give it a go.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
I am waiting on some items to come so I can dump my bios from a T460 ThinkPad. Soon as this last remaining stuff finally arrives in the coming week I will dump the bios chip and try to do the same stuff. Will report back on how I go and if I need any help. Everyone here is so knowledgeable and helpful.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Anyone had success in doing this themselves? I've got a T460 that owner no longer remembers what they setI am guessing if I inject Allservice DXE into the dumped bios eeprom image into the right spot then upload this back to eeprom will allow it to be executed next turn on. Then its a matter of getting the correct value for the HW ID.
