    Lenovo g50-70 bios problem

    Hello.
I recently got this laptop from a friend. It would not boot, but as I did some initial troubleshooting I saw that the screen was coming on and off. So I flashed the bios with rom from this thread:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=48851
It now works, but it starts very slowly until the lenovo logo is displayed. I am also unable to update bios to latest version (9acn32ww, current version is 9acn25ww) from lenovo website. It uses Insydeh20 and it always displays firmware update error, I have tried in legacy mode, uefi mode, disable secureboot a.s.o but nothing.
It also reads in the bios setup that it have no DPK (Digital Product Key), is that lost too or is it because I have installed win 8.1 pro instead of 8 retail?
I have saved the old corrupt bios image.
Anybody else had problems like this?

I have the same issue on some HP, I'm studying the problem and waiting a EC programmer to do some tests.

Here is a guide to flash it in DOS mode.
      https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Welcome...nt/ta-p/278406
I haven´t tested that yet, but as soon as i get it tested I will report back how it went.

Ok, so the DOS thing got me nowhere. I just got the same error message as described in the link.
So, Next step was to try recovery flash. I used andy´s tool to get the filename, copied it to a formatted usb drive, pulled the battery and ac cord. press fn + r, insert AC and press power. It starts to read from the usb drive, but the reboots and no progress. Is it possible to edit the working dump to match EC (I assume that is the problem, EC and UEFI doesn´t match)?

          Re: Lenovo g50-70 bios problem

I managed to extract bios binary from .fd file found in lenovo executable (I think)
The extracted binary is the same size as the dump. Doesn´t that mean that when flashing some data is copied from old bios to new when flashing? Like S/N and SLP key? Otherwise I cannot understand why the working dump from the other thread didn´t work properly.

So, Next I´m going to try to remove IC, solder in cable with connector that fits an adapter with SOP8 & my programmer and program in working bios. Boot it up to recovery menu, pull IC and program original bios to it and flash new bios from lenovo using flashit (DOS mode). Any thoughts on that?

Dos mode with fpt or similar software is not the best choice in this situation.
Desolder the chip, reprogram with bios dump and resolder it , but there are other things , this model has a programmable EC and I think there is a problem regarding his firmware.
I think it is so slowly because there is a check on some data as serial number inside new bios and the original factoring data stored (I think) in the EC .

              Problem solved!
I opened up my corrupt bios rom file in UEFI tool, and noticed that there was a part that could not be decompressed. So I replaced that section with a body from working dump. Programmed it and now it works! Serial number is correct, UUID, windows license etc.

Summary of BIOS Whitelist Removal Problem

                            Problem:
I am attempting to remove the WWAN card whitelist from my Lenovo ThinkPad T560.
                            Initial Findings:
                            • My current BIOS version is N1KET58W (1.45).
                            • I have a CH341A programmer and have successfully created two full backups of my BIOS.
                            • I have the ability to use command-line tools on a Linux machine.
                            Troubleshooting Steps & Conclusions:
                            • I attempted to use several automated and manual patching methods on my N1KET58W (1.45) BIOS, including using hex strings. These attempts all failed.
                            • I concluded that the

The laptop was working fine, the only problem was that when I turned it on, the screen was hard to turn on, it would wait for about 30-40 seconds before an image appeared on the screen.
Initially, I updated from windows to Intel Management Engine 11.8 Firmware, restarted, everything was fine.
Then I updated the bios, also from windows, to the last vs, vs 46. It restarted, those lines with bios update progress appeared, restarted and that's it, since then...

Hi, my laptop suddenly shut down while it was running. When I try to turn it back on, the screen stays black and it emits a melodic beep.

I used Lenovo's SmartBeep decoder and it returned error 0284:
"TCG-compliant functionality-related error (possibly BIOS code validation failure)"

I then tried to enter crisis BIOS recovery mode by pressing Fn + R at boot. The melodic error code changes, but nothing else happens regardless of whether a USB is inserted. I receive another...

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 carbon 11th Gen BIOS problem
                            by MaxonDomkrat
                            Hi everyone.

I have an engineering sample of a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 11th Gen (TYPE 21HM-2FVT05, S/N PF-40G7CD) with an Intel Core i7 1360P (ES – Intel 0000). Since this is an engineering sample, the BIOS had a massive number of various settings. One day, I was experimenting with the BIOS settings and, after saving them, the laptop stopped booting and played a melody after pressing the power button, signaling error code 0002 (Internal bus error), just like in this post: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...shooting-lapto...

Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...
