                                                                                HP Probook 840 G3 - BIOS Locked

                                                                                Hi,

                                                                                so i recently buyed this HP Probook off of a local type of Ebay here (in germany it´s called "ebay kleinanzeigen" in english "ebay small ad" or somethin like that).
                                                                                It was a pretty nice deal, i thought, but as soon as i arrived with the machine at home and bootet it up to inspect the BIOS, it prompted for a password...
                                                                                Since it was a local deal, cash for laptop, i can´t reach the seller anymore.

                                                                                I researched some other forums for a solution or some kind of master password, but i without any luck...
                                                                                Maybe someone of you can help me with this situation and give me some tips or advise. Sadly i do not have any deeper expertise in flashing the BIOS Chip itself my desoldering it and solder it to some kind of breaboard etc.. I´ve seen some "BIOS password recovery services" on Ebay, but i do not know if they are legit or scam.

                                                                                The Motherboard type is: 6043b0178501 ao2.
                                                                                I can also provide any other information if needed.

                                                                                    I have an EliteBook 850 G5. After a Windows update, including a BIOS update, the notebook turns on, but the screen remains black, and the fans spin at high speed—nothing else happens.

                                                                                    I assume the BIOS update failed, so I searched for the BIOS chip.

                                                                                    I found a Winbond chip located between the RAM and the hard drive, which has a size of 32 MB.

                                                                                    However, the BIOS update available on HP's website is only 17 MB in size. I used the update version that was previously installed when the notebook was still working.

                                                                                    Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
