Re: Need bios dump for Lenovo Thinkpad X240
Hi everybody,
I need your help for my X240's bios : I've bought, for trying to fix, a "faulty" X240 mobo which came with only 2x5 bips and black screen when powering on. So, I've replace the bios dump for an another one, coming from a new X240 mobo (model CTO -Configure To Order-, coming without any sérial number, machine model type, UUID,...). Now, it works, it recovers all the original mobo informations on the bios main page. However, it is very slow each time I powered the X240 : black screen during about 20 seconds before the Lenovo logo appears.
Do you think it will be possible to recover a "normal" time for booting ? And how can I do ? Thanks for your replyComment

Re: Need bios dump for Lenovo Thinkpad X240
Try cleaning the current BIOS ME region, read here how: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=88533
If you want, post your current BIOS, always make two readings, and I will clean it for you.Comment

Would you be pleased to explain me what is the BIOS ME region and why would it be responsible of the slowest boot of my X240 ? Or do you have website's link(s) ? Thanks by advance, so I will progress ! Best regards.Comment

Re: Need bios dump for Lenovo Thinkpad X240
I'm not very knowledgeable, just learning myself. If you have problems with fast or high speed fan, logo takes too long when booting, devices not recognized, frankly, very odd behaviour, it is usually the ME region that is corrupted. If you have problems with no video output, then I beleive it might be the BIOS region that is corrupted. I think this applies to most laptops. Google and read about the BIOS and how it is set up into regions. The ME cleaning tutorial has links.Comment

Lenovo x240, broken ME firmware repair
Hi,
I got x240 in my hands that had two problems:
- SVR password
- Broken ME firmware (fw status recovery error on boot, no reboot, fans at max speed)
I got rid of password via auto-patcher from sticky thread, it is gone.
It left TPM 1.2 in `mfg mode` state, but from what I understand this is not an issue.
ME firmware - ME interface is not recognized from Windows at all.
After flashing GIET98WW + ME.rar from https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=79726 machine runs successfully, but as it is a factory bios image, I lost embedded license keys - thus I'd like to repair original image.
Can anyone of you magicans take a look at attached image, and if it can be fixed? This is the original dump I created from my machine.Attached FilesComment

by JoluvillasHi all! I was reading on tutorials how to flash a bios to remove password from a bios, and I ended up reading the EC chip instead of the main bios chip, it only gave me a .bin file of 1,024kb, I learned later that that is the EC chip not the main bios chip (I should have read the tutorials here instead before attempting anything, my bad), I went to flash the original backup, the 1,024kb size file into the same chip and laptop is not powering up anymore. I may have screwed the chip or even the motherboard (Hopefully not), I am trying to see if there is a fix before I discard it. I had a couple...

by 1g0rHello everyone,
First, the data in brief:
Manufacturer: Lenovo
Model: ThinkPad L15 G3 21C3-0016GE
motherboard: LG4 LT5 ADL RT UMA MB 8L - 448.0PZ26.0011

So far I've been a silent reader, but now I need your help
I bought a laptop. The seller said the bios was locked. I was looking for a way to remove this ban.
I then got the CH341A and pulled the corresponding files from here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...evices-and-ele...The laptop was brought in with a BIOS problem and a password. After reading the dump, the information was damaged. I ask for help in the BIOS with a clean ME region. Motherboard 213035-1. Serial number: PW+04e998, Type number: 21c3-0016ge -
by akwkyHi!
Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).
Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...04-14-2025, 01:56 PM - Loading...
