Lenovo Yoga X1 Gen4 - Faulty Bios or what is going on?

    Hello dear forum members,

I own two Lenovo Yoga X1 Gen 4 laptops. One of them had a touchscreen problem, and I tried to fix it by externally flashing the BIOS. Unfortunately, I didn’t save the original BIOS and accidentally flashed it with a faulty one. After that, the device stopped working completely.

I then had the idea to make a BIOS backup from the other Yoga X1 Gen 4 (same hardware) and flash it onto the non-working device.
Nothing was flashed here — the BIOS was only backed up.

I created the backup using a CH341A Black programmer and NeoProgrammer.
When reading the BIOS chip, I disconnected the battery and then reconnected it afterwards.
However, the device no longer starts.

Now neither of the two devices works. The one that was flashed with the backup does not react at all to the power button. If I connect the power adapter without the battery, the LED on the power button blinks white 3 times and then nothing else happens.

Thank you in advance — it would be great if both devices could be brought back to life. They’re not the newest models anymore, but they have always served me well.

      Hello SMDFlea,

      thank you, for your support.

This is the device from which I created (and uploaded) the BIOS backup, and it no longer starts after the backup.

          Hello Hoaca388,

          thank you for your support.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. It's still the same as before. After pressing the power button, the BIOS chip receives 3.3 V at its VCC pin; before that, there is no voltage present at the BIOS chip.

Summary of BIOS Whitelist Removal Problem

            Problem:
I am attempting to remove the WWAN card whitelist from my Lenovo ThinkPad T560.
            Initial Findings:
            • My current BIOS version is N1KET58W (1.45).
            • I have a CH341A programmer and have successfully created two full backups of my BIOS.
            • I have the ability to use command-line tools on a Linux machine.
            Troubleshooting Steps & Conclusions:
            • I attempted to use several automated and manual patching methods on my N1KET58W (1.45) BIOS, including using hex strings. These attempts all failed.
            • I concluded that the

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
            by Wahaz
            Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14APU8 Bios Request
            by beogeek
I've currently got a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14APU8 that is not posting. Its fan spins, the keyboard lights up, and the caps lock doesn't work. It was taken to some shop for cleaning, and then they updated or tried to update the bios. After that, there was no display and no post. I've removed the bios ic from the board and made a bios dump. I need some assistance going forward, as I suspect this is probably just a bad bios issue. I've tried searching for a dump, but no luck; if anyone can throw me a bone, it would be much appreciated!

Attached is the bios dump in the state I received it...
