The normal location from what I’m seeing on other revisions for the bios chip is in the bottom middle of the board however it’s not populated here on the board the only other chip I see that resembles a bios chip is a larger winbond chip 25r256jweq I’ve attached a photo of the board if anyone could help me locate the proper chip to read.Comment

The password worked however laptop boots to ez flash and wont go past i tried bios update via ez flash but it just causes pc to not post after using ez flash.
I flashed the clean bios bin i posted above and laptop boots and installs windows however will not do windows updates after doing some checking <NULL> FA706NF is in the model in device manager under computer tab I belelive the NULL string is what is causing the system to not allow windows updates can someone assist me in editing the BIOS to remove the NULL String ATTACHED is my back up BIOS and the Clean Bios fileComment

Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... -

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.
I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6... -

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.
For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.
I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.
