I'm in the process of getting one in a few days. And if you don't mind I'll hijack your thread to another related question.

I have 2 NP530U3C laptops, one comes with win7, and the other one (win8) it's unrepairable due to water damage. Can i make a dump bios file from the win8 laptop and copy the license to my win7 laptop? Considering the laptop is unrepairable i was thinking, there's no reason for a perfectly good OEM license go to waste..

Can't you just solder the bios of win8 laptop to the win7 laptop?

I believe you can. But that is not what i intend to do, that will void the laptop warranty. If you can point me a SW to dump my win7 bios into a file i'll be glad to help you, but the bios i'm desoldering to dump with the programmer is the win8 bios chip.

I got a question for you, the dump is supposedly 8MB, but your file is only 3MB.

The answer is simple, the SW you recommended automatically chose 3Mb file, I simply trusted the SW.

No worries, cuz I'm about to bug with my issue too.

I was wondering, since you already are working on a de soldered bios, can you test my win8 bios in your lappy? It would take a huge weight out of my shoulders if you could test it cuz my lappy is still under warranty and i'm really afraid of killing it with a non-working BIOS.

I won't be able to provide the file before next monday, but while we're on the subject.. maybe we can help each other.

What happened to your mobo? As you already deducted i also have a death mobo, mine died on liquid spilling. It was properly clean, it went to ultrasounds to remove any liquid remains and ir kept dead. After it went for diagnose, and i couldn't do much without schematics, however i did detect that the CPU was shorted, just couldn't figure out if the issue is CPU or something else. Symptoms are, turns on power and wifi led, but black screen and nothing else. It charges battery fine. And also seems to sleep and wake up on lid close/open, even without HDD.

Do you have schematics for this mobo?

Well, the mobo im working on came from another tech. It exhibits the same symptoms as you.

Voltage readings are fine, no shorted but just like yours there's no display, lcd or external monitor. It is missing a 3.3V at pin 3 of bios chip, pin 8 and pin 9 have 3.3V which is normal.

I decided to flash it to rule out the possibility of bios issue. At the moment, im thinking of doing the following,
1. Try to relace the bios chip and reflash again
2. Reball cpu
3. Reball southbridge

It's my first time dealing with this motherboard and Im in need of the schematic and board view, too.

Have you checked all mosfets for possible shorts? If in your case if you are sure that a short is in the cpu, i guess what you need is a reflow, or reball if reflow does not work.

Well, here's the thing, the CPU is shorted all around, and that obviously affects/is affected by other components, and is hard to tell if the issue is related to CPU or surrounding components. Also, i didn't do more also because i lack replacement components.
I will follow your advice and reball CPU, i doubt it will work, however I can test the surrounding circuit while the CPU is out. Maybe this can help me get further.

Regarding your BIOS, use the one I provided you earlier to test it. It was taken from a working laptop.

I tried a reflow on the cpu, same problem, i will try pull it out and reball after my flux arrives.

Regarding the short near the cpu, did you test the caps and reading is shorted at both ends? Coils? Mosfets?

Without schematics that's a really hard question to answer. In example, a parallel circuit, one short would read short in all the above.

Tomorrow I'll try a quick reflow, but i can't remove the CPU before Tuesday, when my friends lab and reball/heat station equipment are available. Till then all i have is a heat gun and a good soldering iron.

One question, have you noticed on the board any indications to what could be the board model or even it's manufacturer?

A quick update, I was finally able to find the board model, but still no schematics.. It's a LOTUS13-1SP rev.1, and the part number is either BA41-02154A, BA41-02155A or BA41-02157A..

I was about to reflow the CPU when i saw a suspicious looking thing, I believe a chip might be missing in my board. This is possible cuz the board has been in 2 lab before, one, official for Samsung, and another where it was cleaned by ultrasounds. Please check the yellow outline and confirm if the same chip is missing in yours too.
