my cq 40 (313tu) had no display. so i did a bios write and it gave me display. but problem is, it get hang with windows logo. i think it happened with wrong bios writing.

if this what t.j. said fails, try reinstalling windows or even better try installing windows on another HDD so you dont have to archive your data. I have another HDD that is always empty for this cases. Its best to eliminte poor windows installation and bad HDD at the beginning.Comment

If you have a sound card installed, disable the onboard audio!
