A2179 with backlight, but no image

    Hey everyone,

I have a Macbook Air 2020 here that boots, gives backlight on the screen, but no image whatsoever. Just a backlit black display. I couldn't locate the boardnumber, will add to the thread as soon as I find it. Should I be looking in the software, or hardware direction?

Edit1: I also don't get display with an external adapter. Could be the adapter tho, it's one from AliExpress, but it had good ratings.

Typically this is a bad screen....try an old cracked screen if you have.

if testing external try unplugging the internal screen before testing external. If they have encryption enabled i'm not sure external display will work until OS is loaded.

I only have an A1932 screen lying around, and I'm not certain it is compatible although it looks the same.

The light on the external hub lights up, but no image is coming trough. It is possible that this is because it's not unlocked indeed. But I don't think disconnecting the internal screen will change this?

Turns out the A1932 screen is compatible, connected it and works fine. So it is a display issue indeed! Weird since I figured I have backlight and no visible cracks in the lcd it wouldn't be but here we are. Thanx for the advice!
