    Sony VJF152C11N DA0HKDMB6D0 shuts down in 1 min

    So I have this Sony VJF152C11N ( Board Number : DA0HKDMB6D0 ) which came to me with no charging issue. The Charging IC was getting hot so replaced it.

    ISL88732 replaced with ISL88731 and also the lower mosfet PQ59 ( NTTFS4C10NTAG ) with a similar N channel mosfet. Now the Charging is fine with 15.7 on BAT+ line but the new problem is that laptop boots till sony logo and then shuts down when battery is connected ( With or without AC adapter )

    What could be causing this is a non compatible IC or FET or poor soldering or some kind of shorting?

      According to another post on this forum, the IC is compatible. Be sure it is soldered in OK and without any shorts.

      Does the laptop work OK with ONLY the AC adapter ? (no battery connected)

      If yes, we need to review the battery mosfet and the charger interconnect side of the logic board.

      Start with, remove all power / no battery.

      Meter in resistance mode.

      Measure the resistance of the dcin mosfet @ PQ35 as follows:

      Source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
      Source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
      Gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

      Post each measurement and the meter scale used.

          Yes the laptop works fine on adapter only mode. Will post dcin fet resistance tomorrow morning. Thanks

              Applied some more heat to the newly replaced charging IC ISL88731 and now it works fine on battery as well. Thanks everyone.

                  I tried to use this method:

                  Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

                  Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
                  Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
                  Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

                  Hello everyone, I recently found this badcaps site and super Learn Electronics Repair youtube channel. And I wanted to learn how to troubleshoot power supplies and VGA cards and how to practice soldering, since I already have a properly defective piece of them.
