MBA 820-01521-A dropping PP5V_G3S (macbook restarts during boot)

    Hi,

I have liquid damaged macbook air 2018. Macbooks restarts after 10s when its trying to boot.
Q7660 was water damaged and I have cleaned everything. It is connected to the U7650 that makes the PP5V_G3S. When its trying to turn on than everything voltage seems fine and than it drops and after 10s its trying to boot again and again.

Anyone to help me to solve it?

    Thanks for reply.

Thanks for reply but this is not close to my problem.

When I have cleaned the board than my macbook turned on for 5 times (I was testing it). Next day macbook only restarts. So it means the macbook was somehow working but something happened. When I plug in the trackpad MB keeps restarting faster.

When it boots, do you have a display with the backlight and can see the usual apple logo?

Leave the track pad off if it is causing a faster power cycling.

Yes I do have backlight. Earlier I have seen Apple logo but now without apple logo. I was trying to do reset SMC or NVRAM. First try after this reset I am able to see apple logo. After 10sec macbook restarts and no apple logo, only backlight. All I have found was that PP5V_G3S is droping voltage for a while that cause the restart of MB.
          Trackpad is off.

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode.

Check the resistance to ground of PP5V_G3S.

Post the resistance and scale used on your meter for this measurement.

Resistance on the line is very low (under the 1ohm).
Resitance to the ground falls down from XMohm to XX Kohm.

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode.

Then one meter probe on this rail. Other meter probe to ground. This test will show us the resistance to ground.

What is the resistance again? Also interested in the meter scale for this same measurement.

Perhaps you can take a pic of your meter as well ?

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
                  by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                  • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                    • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                  • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                    • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
                  • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)

                  A2941 Macbook air 15” - 5V 0a
                  by obelix24
I’m working on one macbook air 15” m2 that was water damaged.

keyboard, lcd, microphone connectors were damaged so i’ve replaced all of them and without screen connected macbook worked fine. Keyboard &trackpad and also lid sensor was working fine.

i’ve put macbook in shelf and order new screen so i can fully repair it.

Now i got the screen and macbook stays at 5v 0a.

i’ve tried if it’s not in DFU with another macbook but it’s not detected at all.

i don’t have schematics so i don’t know where to start can someone help me?...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
                  by rounin
                  Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                  🛠 Original Issue
                  The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

⚠️ New Problem: One USB-C Port Only Works in One Orientation...
