M1 MacBook computer doesn't rcognise any USB devices

Hello, I have this weird issue with an M1 MacBook Pro motherboard number 820-02020 when I plug an USB key or a dongle for external screen, etc it doesn't do anything. I wanted to reset it but it doesn't see any USB Monterrey or Big Sur install key. Even in DFU mode the other computer with Apple configurator doesn't see it. And this apply on both USB-C ports. But the charger works normally. Any ideas?

    Hi.

    1) The USB Type C charger works ok to charge the laptop so the port is able to negotiate the power delivery contracts using the CCx lines.

    2) The review should be with the external conversion hub you are using to interface with the Type C connector to convert to the type A for your USB pen drive (memory stick).

Does this hub work with other laptops ? Maybe it requires an external power supply to function ?

It is not the hub, it works on other M1 machines. And I am using type C USB keys to reinstall MacOS, so I directly plug my keys in the port of the Mac

Do you see USB LED flicker when using the external memory stick ?

Confirm the voltage of the Vbus rail for the USB connector.

Confirm that the paddle board is properly seated onto the main logic board.

After the above, remove all power. Meter in Diode mode.

        Red meter lead to ground.

Black meter lead to D+ of the USB connector - post the reading.

Black meter lead to D- of the USB connector - post the reading.

Start with confirming if the USB port is receiving the power from the logic board.

My USB sticks don't have any LED indicators the VBUS rail 0 is 20V and the VBUS 1 is 5V when USB stick pluged in

Sorry, what is D- and D+, I don't really understand?

Macbook Pro A1989 - No image, working fine with external monitor
            by Madoy104
            Hi everyone,

I have a MacBook Pro A1989 that was likely exposed to liquid. It doesn't display an image on the built-in screen, but the screen is backlit (you can't see the Apple logo or any other elements when held up to light). The laptop provides 20V and 1.5-2A, and it works fine when I use it with an external monitor. Currently, the connector for the display (J8500) is disconnected. I'm writing to ask for help in diagnosing the issue. I've heard that when the J8500 is exposed to liquid, the processor pin responsible for the display might short-circuit, and I'd like to know...

MacBook A1990 vertical stripes on external screen
            by ahoonid
            Hey everyone,

I bought a MacBook A1990 with no screen. I bought it knowing the motherboard was defective but wasn't sure what the problem was until I received it. It actually turns on but as you see from the attachment, it has vertical stripes, on an external screen!!

The board is neat. Not opened before for sure. Just a little dust, nothing more.

Recovery using wifi can be opened, as can also be seen in the photo but it doesn't go all the way through after connecting it to a wifi. It downloads the initial Recovery files but never completes the rest of the...

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
            by envym
            Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

MacBook Pro A2159 - No Display / Works on External Screen
            by Ado02
            Hi,

I am working on a MacBook that came in for a screen replacement. The MacBook powers on and works on the external screen. However, the screen stays black. The replacement screen made no difference. On further investigation, I found small amounts of corrosion.

            Please see the attached image.

I ordered a refurbished logicboard, but the problem didn't go away with the old or replacement screen.

Can anyone suggest where to go from here?...
