    Surfave Pro 5 no power +vsys 0.4V

    Hello all,

i am trying to fix a surface pro 5, M1013936-015

As you can see +vsys is at 0.4V which appears to me much too low.
Ext_Dc_in is always 0V when charger is plugged but PWR_SL1_F is stable at 15V.

    3V3_SAM is at only 0.428V, should be 3.3V , isn`t it?

    Appreciate all help

To debug the voltage rails that are deemed to be low, remove all power to the logic board.

Meter in resistance mode (2k scale) - measure & post the resistance to ground for the low voltage rails.

If the resistance is very low (as we know, 'resistance is futile') then you may have a bad cap on that rail.

      here are my results.
6.175k appears low to me for a main power rail, am i wrong?

Are schematics and boardview files posted for this product here in the forum ?

Have the attached in my database but the logic board # is different.

The resistance looks fine and is not too low.

I use xzz for this device and did not compare the board numbers as every part in the boardview is in its place on the board.

What can drop voltage without being short?

Re: Surfave Pro 5 no power +vsys 0.4V

There could be a shorted cap downstream that is causing an excessive load -> leading to the massive voltage drop.

            Remove all power.

Meter in resistance mode (try 2k ohms).

Measure & post the resistance to ground for that rail that is low in voltage.

Red meter probe on the rail & black meter probe to ground. Post the measurements. If the meter shows OL or '1' then the resistance may be too high for the selected meter scale. This is a good sign. Just select the higher setting to proceed.

I spent some time with this board and did not find any short, but what i see on the earlier posted sheet, is PWR_SL1_F is powering EXT_DC_IN.

EXT_DC_IN is produced by Q6308. Nothing appears short, EXT_DC_IN stays 0V
              Find attached my readings.

What i furthermore found on the board is U7004 having a hole.
I need to order this part.

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
                by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                  • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                  • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

                Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue
                by GLISIT
                Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

help with AMD Ryzen 5 7535hs power rails
                by ferah831208
Hello there, does anyone have info about AMD Ryzen 5 7535hs power rails or an schematics from a compatible CPU?. I have a quanta G3PR from a HP victus laptop, I suspect cpu is damaged but I would like to know what power rail is the one I guess is damaged. There are 4 coils aprox 4.2 ohm to gnd in parallel next to CPU (I guess vcore) ,one coil same size next to those 4 around 0.7ohms to gnd (damaged rail I guess), and other two smaller I guess associated to less current power rails for CPU logic purposes. Anyone have more specific info? I attached picture.
