      Re: dell n5110 data problem

      1) Can you see the video working for this laptop using the HDMI port & external monitor ? This is to confirm the laptop is working ok.

      2) Measure & post the voltages on the other LVDS lines.

LVDS interface requires multiple interconnects to drive the display panel.

If any one of the connections is missing, the display will not work.

Double check that the LVDS connector is soldered properly and with no shorts.

        lvds
        pin 1.2.3 = 19v
        pin 5 = 3.3
        pin 15 = 3.3 v

You missed the voltages for the highlighted pins on the LVDS connector. See my earlier post.

                    Re: dell n5110 data problem

Pins 16 & 17 on the LVDS connector are too low for the LVDS connector.

                    Each is 0v78 ?

Remove the LVDS display and measure the voltage on 16 & 17 again.

Does the voltage change ? Hoping that the video display will still be driven with some signals over LVDS pins even though the display is removed. These pins should be @ 1v2 like the other data lines for the display.

Keep the display removed, do not attach any power -> meter in resistance mode (2k should be ok).

Red meter probe on pad to test; Black meter probe to ground (shield is ok).

Check the resistance to ground on pin #16 of the LVDS connector. Reading ?

Repeat for pin # 17 of the LVDS connector. Reading ?

If the reading is too low then there may be a fault in the trace / shorting to ground.

The schematic shows that there should be nearby caps to ground for each of the LVDS signals, including the pins 16 & 17. Can you find them ? Once they are found, carefully remove them off the PCB as they may be causing this data pair to be lower than the others. Just remove one at first and see if the voltage on the linked pin on the LVDS pin goes higher. Then remove the next one and check again. Perhaps liquid damage / corossion in this area? Worth a review. If no improvement, then place the caps back. See attached.

After the above, it appears that the PCH is the direct video connect to this display. If the display is 100% known good and compatible with this box then it should work but concerned about the pin 16 & 17 voltages being lower than the others.

                      Hello everyone,
so, I have this laptop Dell Inspiron N5110 with a heating problem on both CPU (I7-2680qm) and GPU (GT 525m), I tried many solutions, like changing thermal paste every month, using thermal pads on CPU and GPU, even using thermal pads on CPU nearby coils; but nothing worked, just minutes after booting the laptop shuts itself down so I thought it might be a short problem, so I decided to check what's going on, so I went online and some tutorial (general one) said to check inductors in order to find the shorted circuit, after checking (CPU removed), I found the culprit to be...

                      Dell 15R-5521 keyboard problem (KBC?)
                      by SDNarcia
Hello, I have a Dell 15R-5521, with the problem that the Ctrl, Alt, Shitf and Num Lock keys do not work, I tested the keyboard with a keyboard tester and it is functional, I also got another new keyboard and the computer has the same problem with the same keys. Check continuity between the ZIF connector from the keyboard to the KBC and all pins are correct. I cleaned the ZIF connector and the KBC and I still have the same problem. I reinstalled windows just in case, and it didn't work. I updated the BIOS to the latest version A16 and there were no changes.

                      As additional information,...

Dell latitude e7470 not turn on .power buton on off and Run Power problem
                      by masoksian
                      Hi everyone,

I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.

The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.

The system does not turn on, there is no post.

I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
The problem continues in the same way.
I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen....

I have a Dell Latitude 7480 laptop that has a problem with freezing during the Windows loading process. If it manages to boot up, it becomes very slow and doesn't load anything from the desktop.
