X1 Carbon Gen3 (20BT, 20BS) not turning on or no screen

Hi, so I have the bestest of the best as the X1 Carbon 3rd gen (it should be 13268-1 from Wistron) and I have a few weird things on it and would be helpful if you could give a second opinion on it.

First, for more than half a year now, the screen is (was) inhibiting the serial fault of having contact, so I'd have to apply pressure to the inverter to work.

About 2 weeks ago I've spilled a little tea over the keyboard, then I turned it off, and did not do anything with it for a week. After that week I needed something that had webcam, but the keyboard was not accepting input, so I turned it off and taken apart since.

I have been planning on upgrading the memory chips on it for a while now, because 8GB felt too little, and I felt like I would be up to the challenge, so I have the right kind (8pcs dual dye mikron 2GB/chip DDR3) as replacement.

So, I thought while I get a new screen unit from ebay (because someone scrapped one, and put up a whole screen for 50EUR, which is a bargain), I would try to desolder the RAM chips.

It did not work. It has underfill, that neither aceton nor alcohol can remove, however I've never encountered underfill before so it might have been possible that I was heat treating the Motherboard for 15-30 mins.

Now the symptoms are : RED led is on when plugged in, it does seem to be charging the battery, however I see no screen at all.

Another weird thing is that, whenever I turn it on, keyboard light is not visible, the power button shows to be on, HOWEVER even if I press it for a slight second it turns itself off. This is unusual, as usually to turn off you'd need 2-3sec, and the only time when I saw that it turned itself off like this was when it didn't have an SSD in it and told me an error code.

No error code nor beeps were heard. No water damage is visible on the motherboard.

My guess is that I've fried the old RAM chips, would that make similar symptoms?

    What do you think?

P.S: I have also found a presumably "faulty" Motherboard on ebay for 8EUR of the same exact kind, and its on my way to here - it could be a good donor board. I also managed to get the schematics, both the boardview, and the PDF version.

Could a killed RAM chip produce a dead machine or should I look for something else?

I believe Chip 2 is BIN is the main one as it contained the Windows product key, marked with XXXXX for now.

      SN: PF3G1REP
      MODEL: 20KW-00J1AU

PROBLEM: Turns on blank screen, charging circuitry motherboard looks good. I have tried another firmware here - but resulted in 5V will not go to 20v due to different PD firmware I believe - using the current firmware it does go to 20V.

Requesting a firmware clean/BIOS region cleaned. Here is output from ME Analyzer:

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
      by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
      by smic717394
      Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

      Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen3 (20BS) LMQ-2

      Hi,

I'm trying to create / extract the bios image from the Lenovo FL1 file for a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen3 (20BS) LMQ-2, and would really appreciate some pointers.

I've watched a couple of videos and read some guidance on Badcaps but it seems the FL1 file for this model seems different to the guides.

      Thanks

      Hi,

Can someone help confirm the location of the bios chip on a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen3, Motherboard LMQ-2.

I think I've located it (see attached), but just want to make sure its not another chip e.g. TMP etc....
