A1708 820-00875 battery drain in stby after SSD replacement by original one

the A1708 is famous for battery drain in stby if a non OEM Apple SSD is installed.

Got this machine with a defective SSD, installed an adaptor + 2242 nvme for testing. Works fine, but battery drain in standby; normal behavior.

I ordered a used, but exactly the same SSD (the same Apple part number) second hand (from a macbook with screen issues). Works fine, laptop lasts 10H on one battery charge.

Put them in deepstandby, confirmed by the pmset logs, and drains his battery in less than a week. Better as with an adaptor + nvme, but not the 30 days it should last on.
    Battery is new.

Could it be possible this ssd must be "paired" or something with the motherboard?

    macbook A1708 - BMU replacement
    by Prott
    Hello,
just a quick sanity check question before I blow myself up.

Is it ok to transplant a working BMU from a dead A1708 battery to a working battery with a dead (not recognized) BMU? Assuming I will be very careful not to short anything out while doing it.

I am just worried the BMU retains some battery specific data that will either kill the new battery or make it behave like an old one (the amount of charging cycles, etc.).

    Thanks

Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?
    by the_rem
    Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue
    by ezenia
    Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...

A1708 820-00840 won't turn on after battery replacement
    by sdogs
this macbook had had liquid damage, i replaced trackpad connector, i also changed efi chip, battery was dead and put in a new one. Today I connected the battery without fixing with double sided tape, I switched it on and everything went smoothly. Before turning off I deactivated autoboot with a command from the terminal. I turned off, I unplugged the battery, I reconnected everything and now it does not turn on anymore. When I connect the charger it has a normal current draw and 20v, the symbol of the charged battery appears for a moment and then nothing, dead. It does the same thing if I close...
