cpu/gpu capacitor short check with power supply possible?

Hello, when vcore or gpucore is shorted to ground mostly it is because of dead chip...but sometimes it is dead capacitor.
Is there any way with power supply to force that capacitor to heat? If i use one volt and one amper on power supply i believe thats too low for anything to heat...but increasing voltage or ampers i risk to burn a good cpu or gpu..
    Any suggestions to noob?

Use a thermal camera if you can't feel anything warming up.

u must have PSU with high amperage to set 1V and 20A, because cpu and gpu chips have high temp dissipation. 1V 1A makes 1W which is nothing even for little capacitor

have tons of this intel crap faulty cpu

Thank you! So, you are saying its safe to increase ampers without destroying cpu? But voltage set to 1v max?
In short, i set max voltage to 1v, and increase amps from 1A to 20A (increase it by 1A) till i fill something warming up?

Current cannot damage good part if u have right voltage. Part take only as much current as tey need. Damaged part have low resistance that take as much current as its resistance. 1V x 20A = 20w which is enouht to see/pour Ipa and look for evaporation/ what part is bad.

@KTMMOTOCROSS ,Can you suggest a good dc supply with 20A. I have max 10A. Will invest if its good.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

What capacitor should I purchase for Power Supply of obsolete game consoles?
              by chth96
              hello.

I have Sega Saturn and 5 years ago, I recapped all of capacitor in the Power supply, Because At that time, It frequently freezed black screen after SEGA logo displayed.

It hardly ever freezed after I finished to recap all of caps in the power supply.

But Yesterday, It did not show any screen at all and its green power LED constantly blinked.

To my surprise I found that all of two NXH 10v 2200uf capacitors in the secondary area of Power supply have been bulged and It measured 57 mF and 75 mF capacitance.

              It seems that quality...

These cheap non brand capacitors at it again

Last night we had a power outage [ long drawn out trying three to come back up before going out completely ] and when I went to turn the DVR camera recorder back today no go 3 bad capacitors ( one capacitor no ESR reading on DVR board the other 3 capacitor on the power supply board over 40 ohm this is not a misprint ) on the external switching power supply and one capacitor on the DVR camera recorder board where the power supply that goes to the hard drive disk is

Well at least I have the cameras back on line I to try the...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
              by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

              Russound CA4 Power Supply Repair
              by CMCM
              Hello Everybody,

Trying to repair a power supply from a Russound CA4 Multizone Controller (picture attached)

Russound no longer supports it but were kind enough to provide a schematic of the power supply (pdf attached).

The outputs marked 12v and 20v are all measuring only 1v.

The board is clicking, which I think means it is in something called hiccup mode when the flyback transformers switches because of an internal problem or something else on the board Overloading it.

The capacitors physically look clean (no bludgesor leaks) and...
