Hello, I have an HP 15-P013NL with motherboard DAY11AMB6E0. Problem is that DVD drive has not been detected in device manager and so not working. Pin 8 (ZERO_ODD_DP#) in the image below is 0v both optical drive connected and not. R553 (image 2) is 0v on optical drive side and 3.3v on the PCH side, both with optical drive connected and not. I tried to replace DVD drive and DVD drive connector with no results, so i suppose it's a problem on the motherboard. Can you please help me to understand more?

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by bogosortHello,
I am trying to diagnose a PS5’s disk drive that is not working. At first, I found a shorted capacitor. However, after removing it, I cannot find any other short but it still is non working. I measured the voltage at this place (see photo) but there’s only 12.11v at one pin. Other pins all show varying voltage between 0 and 50mV. (Constantly changing)
Any idea?1 Photo -
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.
Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today.... -
by modtoolDear colleagues,
I've entered the repair of the chromebook machines just one month ago and I've found some significant differences from the classic laptops or macbooks, so I'm searching some advices.
The owner of this chromebook gave it to me after it has been left flooded by water for almost a week, so chances of repair were not so high, the mainboard was oxidyzed in many spots but I made a nice cleaning, resoldering and component replaging work and now it is almost working.
Among other things I've cleaned many spots from oxyds, reballed CPU, EMMC, EC, replaced...05-07-2025, 06:10 AM -
by SatdudeHi, I have a laptop with a Citizen W1D, an infamous drive in the retro computing hobby. They almost always have bad belts, such was the case with this one. However, after replacing the belt, the drive seeks and spins the disk, but the laptop still gives a "No bootable disk" error. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? The heads are clean and are able to move.
