    A1708 No boot, liquid damaged

How bad is it if I'm getting
    Code:
    CPUVR_SW2 0.25Ω
    CPUVR_SW1 0.33Ω
    PPVCCCPU_S0G_PH1 0.30Ω
    PPVCCCPU_S0G_PH2 0.35Ω
    PPVCCCPU_S0G 0.30Ω
    PPBUS_G3H_CPU 1.1mΩ (stable 13.1V)
    to ground?

Could there be a common cause? Blown U7220/7210?

I read somewhere that low resistance is common on CPU lines.
Are the above values in the norm?

        Thank you.
So obviously no normal. I'll check the 7220/7210 chips.

So I lifted one side of L7210 and L7220 to isolate the problem. Now the short is only on PPVCCCPU_S0G. SW1/2 are now in the kOhm range and I get 0.42A stable input, fan spin, CPU heats up. No display though.

I injected 0.5V 2A into PPVCCCPU_S0G to see if anything gets hot, but I can't find anything even warm. Checked the CPU of course, not warm either.

Is there anything else I can try?

What voltage do you read on the 2 phase switching regulators (U7210 & U7220) that create PPVCCCPU_S0G when the logic board is powered ON ?

                  Hello Guys

I have a ASUS Rog strix laptop that I bought recently to fix and the previous owner spilled water on it . He brought it into a repair shop for them to check it out and instead of fixing it they damaged the battery connector of the laptop ! Other than that they damaged damaged nothing . But since the liquid damage the laptop only turns on and the keyboard lights up and then immediately turns off. I really want to repair this laptop and I also have experience in repairing phones etc and laptops and a bit of soldering but the diagnosing part is where I need help with and...

[Macbook pro A1708] [Boot loop] [Trackpad ?]
                  by No Lan
                  Hey everyone,

Usually, I'm not the type to ask for help, but this time, I'm calling on your wisdom and expertise I've seen what this community can do, so I'm pretty sure you guys can help me out.

Here's the deal: I noticed my MacBook got stuck in a boot loop. After opening it up and doing some initial troubleshooting, I found that the boot loop stops only when the trackpad is unplugged.

Now, just so you know, the trackpad actually works — I tested it with another motherboard and it's all good. Same for the cable, no issues there. The problem is only...

a2338 2020 Macbook Pro liquid damaged won't turn on- weird issue
                  by bigbadbios
                  Hi,
I am trying to fix this liquid damaged 2020 Macbook pro and I noticed something weird.
When I push on/around the renesas 501cr0b IC, which appears to be a clock generator/ multiplier, If I apply lot of pressure, the device will reach 19.9 volts and seems to be trying to work.
I have thoroughly reflowed that area and completely removed that chip (there was some liquid stain in that area) but no help. I have just 5v 0a unless I apply the pressure.
Your help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

                  A1708 820-00840 No boot - trackpad clicks - 20V 0.55amp
                  by ahoonid
                  Hi everyone.

I have MacBook Pro A1708 with a confusing issue.
The laptop doesn't turn on. Strangely, the trackpad clicks and fan spins. Caps lock doesn't turn on and no chime.

Initially, the amp meter didn't turn on at all on one of the usb c ports. On the other port, I got 20V and half an amp tho (no battery connected).
I replaced the bad CD3215 chip and now it works as well. Both ports turn on with same amp readings.

                  The initial issue however remains.
No boot. No backlight. No chime. No keyboard. Only signs of life are clickable trackpad...

HP Probook 450 g5 Liquid damaged USB-C / Display port switcher
                  by maybepanic
                  Hey,
                  I've got a liquid damaged HP Probook 450 g5.
There was a lot of corrosion around the Paradetech PS8743B B1 chip, plus what looks like heat damage from a short. There are no schematics available for the board, nor could I find any schematics from paradetech for the USB-C / Display port switcher.
Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of fixing the board apart from checking for shorts around the ic and replacing it?
Attached some pics of my liquid damaged board, closeup of the cleaned ic and a pic of a good board I found online.
                  Thanks!...
