    Asus X555 U backlight problem

    hi,
I've a really weird problem with this laptop.
It works properly with DC power but when I disconnect it, LCD backlight shutdown.
It happen already when you're in BIOS setting and laptop doesn't power off just the screen, even if its dark, is still visible and it appear if I attach again DC power.
Mainboard is X555UJ rev.2 and even if I didn't find schematic I find boardview that I attach here for reference.
This model has Intel integrated graphic card and LCD is attached on J4502.
+LED Vcc is 19V with DC power always inserted and 8V only with battery that decrease to 7,4V if I power on laptop.

I suppose that pin 34 (BL EN C) that I think it could mean "backlight Enable Circuit" doesn't get power just from battery.
On this point there is D4501 (tested OK) and R4504 that measure 1K.
I've already dumped and next updated BIOS to last release so it make me suppose it could be an hardware failure on mainboard.
This issue doesn't happen on DV-I port but there is something strange.
In Windows 10 even if I set to duplicate or extend screen when the external monitor is attached LCD is completely black, no matter if laptop DC jack is inserted.
Battery works fine and charge at 100%.

There are few articles on this issue already in this forum. First try replacing the coil near backit circuit of laptop screen. Dont measure, just replace it and check again.

@shybear, not on mb. Pull out the screen and look neat inverter circuit on the back of screen itself. The coil is located close to backlit connector and most probably marked "100"

Yeah I followed the other thread
          https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...cklight&page=3

and I sorted its on display. I exchanged with an other broken Innolux panel I had here and now it works even if sometimes with battery flickers so I suppose this other coil isn't so good healthy.

On an Au Optronics I found an other coil (L401) marked 6R8 do you think is it safe to try to use it or is it better to looks for 10uH ?

            You need exact 10uH coil.

Hello, you mention that the problem has been solved. How did you resolve it? Was it by changing the coils on the screen's board? I am interested because I am facing the exact same issue with an ASUS X553M. Sharing your solution could greatly help the community. Thank you for your response

The solution has been repeatedly shared already. Change the inductor.

Hi. I have a problem with Asus ROG GA402RK. The keyboard suddenly stopped working along with the kb backlight. I replaced the keyboard and the ITE KBC chip and the problem is still the same. I don't see any passive elements that look damaged. Does anyone have an idea?

                      by Honziq
                      Hello,

I have this All-in-one PC, after SSD change there is no picture. I was found out it is a backlight problem, but LEDs are OK. There is 4 led strings each working on 42,4V, but from board is comming only 5V.

I was repaired many backlights before but this design i will not understand.

For me it looks like it is waiting for some signal from screen to start up the backlight or something like this. Nothing seems to be damaged or shorted here.

Can someone explain me please what to do, what to check?

                      Thanks....

Keyboard backlight too bright - Asus Zenbook S16 / UM5606
                      by user546087
                      Hi,

I have a new Asus Zenbook S16, Model UM5606. Unfortunately, the keyboard backlight is too bright, even on the lowest setting. I have explored several ways now:

                      - kindly ask Asus for an adjustment - they basically told me to STFU and get lost It is not possible, they say. Of course.
                      - tint the keycaps from behind - I have already tried that - it is kind of a last resort
                      - try to find out, how it is done, look at schematics - this is, where we are at.
                      - maybe get the BIOS modified somehow? This would be the best option but I do not know a lot about...

                      Hello,

I have a problem with the bios, let me explain.

With BIOS 1, the pc takes +- 30 seconds to display the ASUS logo (black screen) and to boot.

I did a clear ME, my black screen problem for 30 seconds at boot is solved, it gives me directly the display and boots quickly.

My problem is that now, once the charger is plugged in and I put a slight load on the processor, it bogs down to 0.39GHz...
The only solution is to unplug the charger to get the cpu back up to speed. But as soon as I plug in the charger, it goes straight back down....

                      hello everyone!
As the title states i am an owner of an LG flatron M2362DP 23 inch monitor Tv. Since i currently use it as a tv i'm posting the problem on the "troubleshooting tvs and video sources" section.
I'm from Greece so English isn't my native language, so please forgive me for any mistakes i make. I have basic knowledge in electronics, and although i have a degree, many things have changed since i finished a 2 year coarse (over 30 years ago). Occasionally i repair easy stuff, mostly things that break at home like appliances.

So i decided to try to...
