BIOS Chip location on HP Elitebook 840 G6

I have an 840 G6 and need to remove the BIOS password.

If I have read correctly this can be removed by editing the 32Mb BIOS chip.

I believe I have located this BIOS chip (refer to image) but would like to know for sure the location of the two BIOS chips on this board.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

the picture is not really good, but as you can see it looks like a bios chip ..

It does look like a BIOS chip, I was looking for the location of both BIOS chips for this board. Its a 256Mb chip - so I am guessing it is the wrong chip.

There are several posts from members who have backed up both, I was hoping one of these members would have replied - with the location of both of these chips.

HP Elitebook 840 G6 bios flash

              Hi,

I have a CH341A programmer with software. I tried to read the above bios chip. I have two questions:

              1. The bios is a MX25L25673G chip which is not detected. Anyone who has done a successful read?

              2. I only found the above bios chip, but most have two chips to read. I did a search on the board, but only found the MX25L25673G bios chip. Can someone help me acknowledge if this is the only chip I need to try to reset the forgotten password.

              Thanks!

I am wondering if anyone figured this out? Looking at the insides of an Elitebook 840 G6, I see the MX25L25673G next to the dimm2 socket. Is this the IC that should be flashed in case of forgotten admin password? Or should I look for another IC?

Hi for ch341a programmer you better use colibri or neoprogrammer they support more chips.

2 question mostly the pasword is saved in the main bios.

For 3 programma is programma that works to unlock bios just drag the bios image and use tool in the same folder and will unlock your bios.

                  Good luck

                  Regards Steve

I have desoldered the main bios chip, the mx25l25673g, and used hpunlocker on its contents, then cleared the chip and flashed and verified the "unlocked" bin. However, bios screen shows: "enter password". Did I do something wrong?

Hello, first of all, excuse me, I am using the translator, English is not my native language.

                          I have a Lenovo ideapad 330S - 14IKB laptop.

The tablet did not recognize me when I connected it, so I checked the device manager and I realized that there were many with the exclamation mark, so one by one I began to update their drivers until the sign disappeared of admiration, I even updated the BIOS, and the laptop rebooted normally and worked, so far so good, but the tablet still did not recognize me, I read on the internet that it could be due to a...

HP EliteBook 8760w BIOS Chip Location?
                          by midihead7
Greetings to you all. I need to replace or re-flash the corrupted BIOS chip on an HP EliteBook 8760w (Quad Core version). The BIOS was corrupted or erased by a nasty virus and the laptop will not power on at all so the Win+B key combination doesn't work to do the emergency restore of the BIOS. Where is the BIOS chip specifically located on the motherboard? I think that it may be the 8-pin chip located near the external battery port and memory slots on the bottom of the laptop (as seen in the picture) but I am not certain. I apologize that I am not yet very experienced with reading motherboard...

Acer e15-e5-576g-5762 bricked. Bios chip won't interface in AsProgrammer.

Thanks for any help. The board version is DAZAARMB6E0 REV: E. The bios chip is winbond 25Q64JVSIQ1736. W25Q64JV is not available in AsProgrammer -- only BV CV FV or FW_1.8c. The chip won't interface with asProgrammer and a CH341A. When I have this chip on the board, the laptop will not post but when I plug it in to power, the blue LED lights up, also the orange when the battery is connected. When I push the power on button, keyboard backlight turns on and the fan starts briefely then turns off. But I can't do anything to program this bios chip so I bought another one.

                          The BIOS...

This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...
