    Need Help for Datasheets

    Hello,

I am looking for datasheets for following 2 SMD modules. They are on my MSI GL63 8RE Laptop mother board. And, I think they control power to Nvidia Graphics chip.

    1. SMD 5 pin package (Seems to be SOT-353 type); 3 pins on one side, 2 pins on the opposite side, package code AEG (or AEC - the last character was not visible well).

    2. SMD 8 pin package (Seems to be SOT-553 type); 4 pins of each side, Package has 2 lines printed on it. Letters are centered. First line - EN; second line - G84J. This chip appears to be a controller for LDO side mosfets in the supply. There are 3 chips driving 6 mosfets.

    it is more like
    =| en |=
    =| G84J |=

(= represents set of 2 pins).

Will certainly appreciate any help provided.

    Warm Regards,

Here are the pictures of the chips.
1st photo has AEG and EN/G84J together. Second photo has EN/G84J.

      Hope this helps.

I think the 'AEG' is a single AND gate from Texas Instruments.

Thank you Mon2. Appreciate your help.

While we are on this topic, I have a question.

The EN in EN/G84J - Whether it is a product code or Company Id? if it is company id, which company is it?

Reason is, I can find some products (various pin configurations) for product code EN, but none of them is 8 PIN form that I have on that board.

Similarly, for G84J, I can find products with product codes G8, but no products for code G84 or G84J.

Therefore, I am wondering whether it is custom numbered for MSI by the Semiconductor supplier....

          Warm Regards,

Best I can find for the EN chip is this: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/4000196892825.html

I have found FAN2502S26 with AEG marking

              Re: Need Help for Datasheets

              Hello R_J,

Thank you for your kind help. Appreciate it.

Looking at the circuit where this AEG and EN/G84J parts are involved, I think they are the drivers for the mosfets that provide supply to Nvidia GPU on the MB.

I see a 0 resistance between the +ve rail and Ground in the GPU area. I found 0 resistance across pin 4 and pin 8 of all 3 EN/G84J chips. There is some resistance between the gate and Source/Drains of the mosfets connected to EN/G84J and pin 4 connects to mosfets. The source and drains of High side and the low side mosfets show 0 resistance. However, since the pair of mosfets connected to each of EN/G84j, are pumping current in parallel in to the supply rail, one shorted EN/G84J can cause issue across all three mosfet pairs. The mosfets are 87350D from TI.

For me it is important to understand the function of EN/G84J and whether there should be 0 ohm resistance between pin 4 and pin 8 of it. It is possible that they are tied together through a PCB track to probably make the chip work in certain function.

I have a very low value resistance in CPU power area too, but since there is bit of resistance, currently I am not focusing much on it.

What I am trying to do is understand the function of power management block to get a better idea of the lay of power land.

I do have regulated power supply where I can vary voltage and current independently. I am aware of voltage injection method. But, I do not want to use it as first line of attack as it can impact GPU, CPU. And, that will be a whole new ball game.

              Warm Regards,

                Hi.

I'm posting this here in part as a memo to self as well as to describe the procedure I used in case anyone else found it useful. I found a lot of the necessary information to make this work on this forum and I figured I would give something back. If this is not the appropriate place to post this, I don't mind it being deleted but I hope it can help other people.

Magnum IA.100 Amplifier Switches on, No Output, Possible Input Side fault?
                by flibidy
I have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.

The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.

Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
                by ttmi100x
                Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

                Upon closer inspection...

I recently fixed our Samsung black screen of death by watching YouTube videos and reading through previous threads. Removed a few ceramic capacitors and fixed a short on the back side of the tcon board. So my father and law asked me if I could try to fix his visio. He said that it wouldn't power on. When he first brought it to me I plugged it in and there was a standby light. When I hit the power button the TV booted up and everything worked. I hit the power button again and then I saw what he ment. Since then I have not been able to get it to power on or have a standby...
