Lenovo X1 7th Gen Carbon removing WSON Bios

    Hello,

I am trying to read the Bios on a Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th gen. It has a Winbond W25Q256JVEIQ chip in a WSON configuration. I have not come across this type of chip in the past and there is two very small resistors next pins 1 and 3. I don't want to blow them off when using hot air. Would it be possible to read on-board or does it need to be removed to read correctly?

Any tips would be very helpful.

    Thank You

I believe the surface tension with solder is it will hold it in place and the chips will align to the solder pads.

I think one of my issues is I don't have a pre-heater for board rework and I need to apply a lot of hot air to get the solder to melt.

      Thank You

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
        by Wahaz
        Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 Desktop - Corrupt BIOS
        by grimacelord
        Hello there.

I am working on a Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 desktop that currently has a corrupt BIOS and I have been unsuccessful thus far in trying to fix it myself.

        History:

        1. This computer came to me initially with an error message that said "BiInitializeLibrary failed 0xc0000001" or "0135 fan error". It would always be one of the two errors. It should be noted that when it produced the fan error, there was no physical problem with the fans. They were all spinning just fine.

I searched for this error online and discovered...

Hello! I need help getting a modified BIOS for my system. Since I have an engineering processor, is it possible to add the microcode of this engineering processor to the latest BIOS for this laptop model? I think since the BIOS is old, that's why the Wi-Fi driver is not installed on Win10 and Win11, the sound is not adjusted (error code 10 in the device manager) and the screen brightness. The laptop also has BIOS chips W25Q512NW and W25Q128JV, how can...

        Lenovo IdeaPad 330 15-AST 81D6 BIOS Recovery
        by jendkkd jeje
So a couple of years ago i got a bios update through Lenovo Vantage, so i installed it and bricked my whole BIOS, so i couldn't fix it so i put that ideapad in a box, 3 years later i found that one PC and want to recover it to switch from a 2014 hp laptop to this one.

I found a method to recover the BIOS of many lenovo laptops tha consists in pluging in a USB Flash with the BIOS files and power on the laptop with Fn + R keys pressed until fans go loud and start beeping loud, but nothing worked, so i think filename is wrong, i tried naming the bios file as 07WW.BIN, BIOS.BIN, BIOS.fd,...
