    Dell Inspiron 5547 BIOS Corruption

Hi all! I am having trouble with a Dell Inspiron 5547. I tried reflashing this board and starting but was having no luck. On a whim decided to verify that the bios file was still intact and received a failed verification message. I then re-flashed it, verified that the image was intact, turned on the computer (no start), verified it again and it failed. I have tried changing the BIOS chip itself (W25Q64FWSIQ) and no luck. Right after re-flashing, the board pulls .42A (which is typical) goes to zero, and then pulls .33A and stays there. It almost seems like it wants to start, gets corrupted, restarts but cannot proceed with the corrupted image. I have tried several different ram sticks. On startup my multimeter records the Hz jumping around for a second until it settles at 11.67Hz (could be operator-error as I am unfamiliar with using this mode). Any help at all would be appreciated!! The pins on the bios chip go as follows:

    PIN 1 3.3V
    PIN 2 3.3v
    PIN 3 3.3v
    PIN 4 GRND
    PIN 5 0v
    PIN 6 0v
    PIN 7 3.3v
    PIN 8 3.3v

Where did the failed verification message come from ,the bios software ? ,what programmer are you using, did you try a good bios dump .

If by that you mean you write bios chip, solder it to mainboard - press the power button and then turn off the machine and read the chip and verify against the file you wrote - then of course you are getting a verify fail. Bios content is changing each time the machine is turned on. Even if you get a "no start" condition, there are still things written to it. You might have a failed video card or memory or not correct bios for the machine and still get a no start condition yet the contents of bios have changed.

Thanks SMDFlea and Khaahk for your responses. To answer your question SMDFlea, I got a failed verification message from Flashrom. I am using a CH341a_SPI programmer and a known good dump. What Khaahk is saying makes total sense, I am just new to motherboard repair and still learning. I will keep diagnosing, thanks again!

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
          by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue: reaches Dell logo and stops
          by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...

Dell 9010 MT BIOS Update Always Fails
          by mikeybass
Hi, I hope some one has some advice for me. I searched the forums but didn't see anything relevant. I acquired two identical Dell 9010 Mid Tower computers from a business office upgrade (they were going to throw them out). Both of them have the same motherboard (00F82W). One of them works flawlessly. The other one had a corrupted BIOS. I tried flashing numerous main BIOS and EC files from the internet, but none of them worked. I decided to copy the main BIOS and EC from the working 9010 computer and successfully flashed the corrupted BIOS. This got the computer able to boot again and run norm...
