HP Stream 13 enter model and serial number into BIOS

    Hello everyone!
Looking for some advice please as I'm stuck. My daughter has a small laptop HP Stream 13 which she loves. Recently that laptop died (a liquid was spilled on it) and I offered to buy a new one but that laptop had some sentimental value for her so she asked me to try to fix it.

Long story short I bought a new motherboard on Ebay and installed it (exactly the same motherboard with Intel N2840 just with 64 Gb memory instead of 32 Gb). The problem is the new motherboard came with blank model and serial numbers in BIOS (just zeros). I tried to create a DOS bootable USB stick with NbDMIfit utility on it but the problem is the laptop is not booting in DOS mode but rather in EFI shell which does not allow me to run the NbDMIfit utility. I am currently stuck and don't know what else can be done.

How can I enter the model and serial numbers into HP Stream 13 BIOS? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I was finally able to resolve the issue - had to switch on the Legacy support in BIOS which allowed to boot in DOS mode from the USB stick. Then entered model and serial number using NBDmiFit utility. Thank you everyone!

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
          by Wahaz
          Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

          ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
          by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
          Some issues
          A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

          Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

Changing BIOS Serial Number After Motherboard Replacement on EliteBook x360 G3
          by Friend33
          Hello,

I have an EliteBook x360 G3 where I had to replace the motherboard. Everything is working fine and there are no errors during boot. However, I have the issue that the serial number in the BIOS is incorrect. When I run the DMI tool under Windows, I get an error stating that I am not in Unlocked Mode and therefore cannot make any changes. I was able to change the Asset Tag directly in the BIOS. Now I am wondering, can I simply read the BIOS chip, change the serial number with a hex editor, and write it back, or what other options do I have? The old motherboard did not work at...

          [HELP] G712LWS BIOS capsule
          by TraJikar Mac
I need someone that can capsulate one of the bios files below, and i prefer the older bios version so i can flash it using CH341A tool into the bios chip.
The manufacturer BIOS files are bigger than the BIOSbackup1.bin files by 256KB and I don't know how to fix or recompile it.

You can see in this link a conversation between me and other people (Starting at page 10) who tried to help me (thanks to their efforts), but i still couldn't fix it and the laptop is considered as dead until now.

Also, I uploaded a backup file for the bios that I extracted by using CH341A...

Dell 9010 MT BIOS Update Always Fails
          by mikeybass
Hi, I hope some one has some advice for me. I searched the forums but didn't see anything relevant. I acquired two identical Dell 9010 Mid Tower computers from a business office upgrade (they were going to throw them out). Both of them have the same motherboard (00F82W). One of them works flawlessly. The other one had a corrupted BIOS. I tried flashing numerous main BIOS and EC files from the internet, but none of them worked. I decided to copy the main BIOS and EC from the working 9010 computer and successfully flashed the corrupted BIOS. This got the computer able to boot again and run norm...
