• Thank you very much! I was able to solve the problem before I saw your post. I had the same error in the EC file that you pointed out to me as in the main file.
I copied the feature byte from your mod file into the EC file so that the file size didn't change.
Then I adjusted the born date and rewrote both files. Now everything is fine and the error during boot no longer appears.
Thank you very much, I was able to learn a lot.

• No my bios is without password, but how should I work with BCU if MPM is locked?
I'll test it, but so far I'm not aware that it works like that.
I have flashed your file, now it works again and the serial number fits, but now I always get an error with the security unit when booting.
Does the error with the Feuture byte perhaps also need to be fixed in the EC?

Of course I reset the security settings in the BIOS to factory defaults, but the error remained.

I tested it again with BCU, but the born date was not adopted. And you can't change the serial number...

• Thank you,
isn't there the same problem with the size of the EC file?
How do I insert it correctly so that it looks like your file? I just copied the byte into the hex file as unicode.
Unfortunately, BCU does not work for me because I cannot unlock the MPM.
I can test the file tonight and can then say whether it works.

• Updating Serial Number on EliteBook x360 1030 G3

I have an EliteBook x360 1030 G3 and after a motherboard replacement, I want to change the serial number and the FeatureByte. None of the known methods work. MPM is locked and cannot be unlocked via EFI.

Therefore, I read out the two chips and adjusted the serial number, FeatureByte, and Born Date using a hex editor. Now the system won't start anymore. I think I did something wrong with the FeatureByte, as there was a message indicating that the file size was changing.

My serial number is: 5CD849BL7Q
FeatureByte: 3X476J6S6b7B7H7M7R7W7maBaEapaqauawbVbhcAd6dUdpdqfXgdguhKhZjh.qM...

• Okay, I think the device is too new. The x360 G3 is roughly equivalent to the G5 in regular EliteBooks. It's from 2019.I booted from this EFI, but then I get the error that the MPM protocol is not present.I also can't change the data via BCU. Thanks for the help; I will upload my BIOS. Are both chips needed, or is the one on the board sufficient?

• I guess I can only change this by reading the chip. Or is there a way to change my UUID to FFFFFFFFFFF?

• Okay, I understand, but don't you need the SMC file from HP for that?
I have tried all the methods from the readme and I get the error that MPM is locked and I need to escalate through the UUID.
How exactly does that work?

• Changing BIOS Serial Number After Motherboard Replacement on EliteBook x360 G3

Hello,

I have an EliteBook x360 G3 where I had to replace the motherboard. Everything is working fine and there are no errors during boot. However, I have the issue that the serial number in the BIOS is incorrect. When I run the DMI tool under Windows, I get an error stating that I am not in Unlocked Mode and therefore cannot make any changes. I was able to change the Asset Tag directly in the BIOS. Now I am wondering, can I simply read the BIOS chip, change the serial number with a hex editor, and write it back, or what other options do I have? The old motherboard did not work at...

Okay, I'll check it out. Actually not much can have changed because I always read and write with a pogo probe. So at the moment the laptop starts up without a picture and only the fan is running and a lamp is on, even without RAM and SSD no beep code. I'll check it again and report back. I thank you all!...

I think my motherboard is broken. I soldered all the pins again. The notebook no longer wants to start....

Fan rotates and F11 lights up. I don't understand that. The last thing I did when the laptop was still running was to update the bios to the latest version. Is it possible that some controllers aren't working with your files?...

Unfortunately no real change. Power lights up. The fan turns on fully and now the button next to F12 lights up. No picture. No boot. What could be the problem? Before everything worked, only the boot error occurred and the DMI information was incorrect. Now nothing works....

I flashed the file. Unfortunately now only the fan turns on and Power and F11 light up. Only black screen and no boot.

However, I have to admit that before I saw your post, I tried a bios update, but that didn't change anything. I uploaded your file immediately afterwards. Is it possible that the EC chip now also needs to be reloaded?...

I've already tested this, but the setting is already set to "Lock" so I can only change the asset number. Serial numbers etc. are not taken over....

Hello guys!

I've read a lot here, but unfortunately I can't get any further. Actually I only had one problem with my BIOS, then unfortunately I destroyed two contacts when unsoldering the main chip, so I haven't found a way to read it yet.

For this reason I bought two new chips. These also work and the notebook is running again, but I have no idea how to activate MPM. Because the DMI information is incorrect and I cannot change it. When booting, the error always appears that there is a problem with the Security Device Unit.

Since I can't get to the data from...
