    Macbook pro 820-2530 troubleshooting

So this system is not turning on, no light on charger when plugged in.
I start troubleshooting and i get 0v everywhere.
    Replaced r6905, c6990 and c6999 now i have 3.6v and 17.2v on both sides of r6905.

    D6905 has 3.6v on pin 1 but 2.7v on pin 5.

Q7050 has 1v everywhere less pin 4 which has 0.22v.

Pin 4 is CHGR_BGATE which comes from U7000.

    U7000 has:
    0v on DCIN,
    4v on ACIN,
    0v on VDD,
    1.7v on PP3V42 G3H.

U7000 CHGR_DCIN comes from D7010 wich has 0v on DCIN side but 17.22v on the other side.

I upload schematics see if someone can give a clue.
    Thanks in advance.

Macbook pro 820-2530 short on PP18V5_G3H

So this system has 17.2v on PP18V5_G3H with 0 resistance to ground.

        Removed R6905.

        Still shorted

R7062 gets 7v instead of those 17v. Removed and board still shorted.

Fuse on that line is ok..

        Any ideas?

Remove the fuse and check which side the short is on.

            Thanks piernov,
Short is after fuse, on pin 2.

              Re: Macbook pro 820-2530 troubleshooting

Is it normal to get 0L on multimeter when measuring resistance to ground (diode mode red on ground, black on path ) when circuit has no power?

I get 2.6 when there's power on that rail

Resistance to ground must be measured without any power.

                    O.L. means near infinite resistance.
I'd recommend you to learn how to use a multimeter before trying to fix a Macbook logic board.
After that, all the basic troubleshooting steps are covered by Louis Rossmann on his Youtube channel. He also made a document to learn the basics that you can find in his video description.

Well after building again all the paths i have no shorts.
I have u7000 not getting power through DCIN cause pp18v5_g3h is not getting through d7010..
Is it possible to skip a diode?
I dont get why power is not going through it.
                      Everything else is looking fine.

                          Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
                          by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                          • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                            • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                          • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                            • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
                          • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)
                            • This

I’m working on one macbook air 15” m2 that was water damaged.

keyboard, lcd, microphone connectors were damaged so i’ve replaced all of them and without screen connected macbook worked fine. Keyboard &trackpad and also lid sensor was working fine.

i’ve put macbook in shelf and order new screen so i can fully repair it.

Now i got the screen and macbook stays at 5v 0a.

i’ve tried if it’s not in DFU with another macbook but it’s not detected at all.

i don’t have schematics so i don’t know where to start can someone help me?...

Hello, I have a 2019 macbook a2141 with no backlight. video image is visible with flashlight but no backlight. All the associated circuitry is located on the back side of the logic board. I've removed the logic board and display and have them connected together on the bench so I can probe the back side of the board. I'm applying power through a usb-c port attached to the logic board but I'm not sure how to actually boot the logic board. I tried attaching the power button and that didn't work. I also have the fans attached and they are not spinning. If anyone can help me with this setup I would...
