L8230 and R8230 both visually ok and have continuity
U8100 appears clean and undamaged but I have a suspicion that it may have been fried with a over current pulse when L8430 was blown
Once again, thanks for taking the time.

Thanks for the reply.
PP1V8_AON resistance to ground 455k diode 435mV
Voltage
I2C_SMC_PWR_1V8_SCL 574mV
I2C_SMC_PWR_1V8_SDA 578mV
So does 1v8 come from U8100 or somewhere else? Thanks for the reply.

Forgot to say - no shorts on major power rails including PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN, L8430 hasn't blown since replacement. Also noticed another coil L7700 (PP3V8_AON_SPMU_ISNS_VIN) is slightly wonky but reads fine and 3.8v on both sides.

Macbook Pro M2 820-02773 5v 0A
Working on this macbook, showing 5v 0A from charger - dead. Board is clean - no liquid, owner said he left it charging and died. Some voltages:

After looking at board closely found L8430 damaged/blown open circuit so replaced it. No change, still 5v 0A - I'm thinking over current on L8430 (PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN) killed U8100?
Tried connecting to another macbook but not in...

820-02016 DFU error 4014 - dead nand?
Working on a Air 820-02016, had extensive liquid damage around SPI/SOC which I hopefully sorted. Machine powers straight to DFU but when I restore get the 4014 error. Checked all the awake around NAND
PP0V88_AWAKE_NAND, PP1V25_AWAKE_NAND, PP2V5_AWAKE_NAND all present.
Any other power rails to check or dead NANDS? thanks

PPBUS_AON - If the voltage is approximately 12.28-12.35V, it may indicate a communication issue between the SOC and PMICs, or corrupt firmware
Not in DFU mode
PP3v8_AON 0v, voltages around U5700 seem ok, P3V8AON_PWR_EN present, PP5V2_P3V8AON_VDRV 0v which comes from PP5V_S2 - will this be needed for the CD's as well?
Looking at the CD's no LDO voltages, PP5V_S2_UPC 0v - generated from UF800. No enable signal from UF840.
Inputs to UF840:
PMU_SYS_ALIVE_1V8 - 100mV
UPC01_5V_EN - 0V
PP1V8_S2 0V. Looks like this...

Macbook Pro 820-02733 PP3v8_AON
This machine arrived trashed - someone had lifted all the shields and had a go - a mess. I thought it would be a good learning experience as I've never worked on these before. Most of the mess was around the U5700 area, other areas including CD's looked clean.
Initially when conecting charger - 5V drawing 0.4A - U5700 warming up. Removed it but found Q5820 shoted as well. Ordered all the parts and replaced U5700, Q5820 and Q5840 for good measure.
This area had missing components/pads destroyed etc - restored all I could see.
Started measuring around U5700...Last edited by SMDFlea; 01-14-2024, 09:09 AM.

Macbook Air M1 820-02016
Right guys, working on my first M1. Came in with no battery (not sure why) USBC meter 20v 0.05A. Nand underfill removed, so may have been replaced/reflowed.
I know these draw little power on bench without battery so checked DFU. Stuck in DFU so tried restore/revive both fail with error 21.
Mac DFU Wiki states following:
Error 21 - Resolved with SoC ROM replacement. On macbooks with an M1 processor, this error also means problems with NAND chips such as:
- Failure of one or two NANDs.
- Mismatch between the NAND model and the...

Re: apple configurator padlock
Thanks for this, once the original owner removed it, os installed fine.
Any tips on where I can check icloud status online?...

Re: apple configurator padlock
I think its a T2 intel, option to select boot should work,or has that gone as well?
Is there any reliable place to check icloud status like Apple used to do with serial/IMEI?
cheers...

Re: apple configurator padlock
Another thing I've noticed is that none of the keyboard boot commands are working like option to select boot, pram reset etc. I've tried another keyboard to rule that out.

Re: apple configurator padlock
ok thanks for the padlock clarification.
Just got my new usbc/ethernet cable and tested on another macbook - works fine. When I connect to problem macbook there is no connection - just stays on the select wifi screen. Not sure if ethernet is unavailable in recovery?
If I connect to wifi, it loads to select language screen, then have the option to activate with email/password which I don't have. At this stage the cable seems active as the lights are flashing on router.
the only option I...

apple configurator padlock
Guys,
Been away from repairs for a few years, good to see many familiar names still around!
Working on my first T2, short on PPVIN_G3H_P3V3G3HRTC_R, which is now sorted. Machine starts to recovery, don't have appleid/password so tried to reinstall Mac os just boots back into spinning globe/recovery.
Tried to connect apple configurator, gets into DFU, starts process but after a few minutes shows padlock for both revive and restore. Tried different macs, usb cables still get the padlock. Any ideas?

The macbook ones are too small, the pitch is different. I think I need something like this but finding it will be like a needle in a haystack...
