HP dv6 Power Issues HP DV6-DV7 Quanta LX6_7 (Liverpool) DAOLX6MB6F2

*Same issue i believe. i posted in the wrong place, found this incomplete so I suppose i work from here. I now have the board view from this thread and will post my progress*

Default HP dv6 Power Issues HP DV6-DV7 Quanta LX6_7 (Liverpool) DAOLX6MB6F2
I have a weird issue. Just typing it out may help me move forward on this.

    Lets go over the details

DV6 HP laptop. No power under normal conditions. No boot direct from PSU. PSU provides light when batt is connected but does not charge batt. Computer boots and operates from battery.

Power supply is providing the spec'd voltage. Not sure under load but my gut and experience don't suspect the PSU.

The DC socket and connector appear in good condition, voltage is present on the board connector.

With the battery disconnected and PSU connected there is no sign of life at all.

Connect battery and the charge light/indicator goes red(ish). The battery does not charge though. The computer will only boot for as long as the battery has power. I will verify in a few mins by charging the battery on my benchtop PSU.

I believe the issue is in the power section on the motherboard. I have a block diagram schematic, of which im not entirely comfortable with, I cant figure out how to decipher the abbreviations just yet. I am familiar and comfortable with older schematics and Im sure with a little more concentration ill eek my way through them. Ive just been looking at them for a little while and having trouble following the digram through to the real life circuit. I have been trying to find a boardview file but no luck, something close but not the same model.

HP DV6-DV7 Quanta LX6_7 (Liverpool) DAOLX6MB6F2 Rev 1A is the exact model i have. If anyone has the borad view file do you mind helping me out?

Has anyone seen a fault like this before? Anybody recognize this or similar behaviour?

I've just done a ton of work for this customer and it failed like this an hour into me returning his unit to him. I'm already in for waaaay to many hours on this.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

further details; PSU indicator light turns on for 1 second before turning red(is

Re: HP dv6 Power Issues HP DV6-DV7 Quanta LX6_7 (Liverpool) DAOLX6MB6F2

This is a different laptop with a different board (there are a lot of different dv6, don't get confused), so I moved the post out of the other thread (still reachable at https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=63799 ).

For schematics/boardviews, please ask under the "Schematic Requests ONLY!" subforum. EDIT: ah, you did already, just saw that.

For the actual issue, starting from the same point as the other thread — measuring voltage on the DC-in connector — could be a good idea though. Measure without battery.
On the schematics this will be CN15.
Then you can measure the voltage on the main power rail +VIN, on PR155 for example.
